The mission of Veterans Freedom Square, Riverside Park is to recognize and honor area U.S. Those who fought on the battlefields and those who served in support of them should be remembered and honored in recognition of the freedom they procured for future generations. Let us never forget the sacrifices our men and women have made.

This Labor Day, we honor the American spirit.

Today we celebrate the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work that built our nation — from the hands of working men and women to the courage of those who served in uniform to protect our freedoms.

Labor Day is a time to pause, reflect, and enjoy the blessings of community, family, and liberty. May we never forget that the freedoms we enjoy today are safeguarded by both the efforts of our workforce and the sacrifices of our veterans.

This weekend marks a special moment in Independence! Brand new Flags now fly proudly over Veterans Freedom Square, honoring the brave men and women who have served our country.

Just in time for the grand reopening of Riverside Park & Zoo, we invite you to stop by, reflect, and enjoy a renewed symbol of freedom and pride in our community.

Let the Memorial be a reminder of the sacrifices made and the spirit that unites us all.

Today, on Veterans Day, we pause to honor and thank every man and woman who has worn the uniform, stood guard, and sacrificed for our nation. At Veterans Freedom Square, we are forever grateful to those who have served and continue to serve with courage, dedication, and resilience. Your sacrifices and unwavering commitment to freedom are what allow us to live in peace and pursue our dreams.
