In 2024, the fatality rate for motorcyclists was 27 times higher than for passenger vehicle occupants.

With summer finally here, weโ€™re seeing more motorcycles out enjoying the warm weather. Whether youโ€™re behind the wheel of a car or on a bike, we all play a role in keeping each other safe.

Drivers: Give motorcycles extra space and stay alert. Motorcyclists may need to brake or maneuver quickly to avoid hazards.

Motorcyclists: Wear a helmet, follow traffic laws and never ride distracted.

As Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to remind everyone to look twice and help save a life.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and one of the biggest needs we've seen through our Law Enforcement Navigator program is access to mental health services.

In this video, Jessica Green, one of our four Law Enforcement Navigators, explains how the team connects residents with the care and resources they need. Because every situation is different, each person receives individualized support to help find the community partner that best fit their needs.

But assistance doesn't end there. The LENs follow up with clients to make sure their needs are being met, checking on if they have transportation to appointments, what health care coverage they have and anything else they need to receive the help they deserve.

Residents can contact the team directly at [email protected].

As we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, we must never forget the courage, sacrifice and selflessness behind every freedom we enjoy today. This Memorial Day, Kenton County honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and keeps their families and loved ones in our thoughts.

Reminder: Kenton County offices are closed today, May 25. They will reopen for regular business hours Tuesday, May 26.

Protect what matters most by buckling up every time you're in the car. A seat belt saves you from more than a ticket.

We are participating in the "Click it or Ticket" campaign through the end of this month. Expect to see more law enforcement on the roads during Memorial Day weekend and remember to buckle up.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and weโ€™re highlighting the important work of our Law Enforcement Navigators (LENs). Our LEN team helps connect individuals and families to resources for mental health, substance abuse, crisis support and more, providing compassion and guidance when itโ€™s needed most.

We asked Abby Fortney, one of our four LENs, what drew her to this career. She shared:
"I chose to become a social worker as a way to serve others. I love having the opportunity to meet all kinds of people and find solutions to all kinds of problems. As a law enforcement navigator, I interact with people during some of the most challenging times of their lives. It is the biggest honor of my life to work to make the worst events of someone's life a little more bearable."

Thank you to Abby and our entire Navigator team for the care, empathy and support they provide to our community.

Yesterday, we stood alongside fellow law enforcement agencies from across Northern Kentucky at the 2026 Northern Kentucky Police Memorial Service to honor the courageous officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.

During National Police Week, we also want to recognize and thank the men and women who continue to serve each day with courage, commitment and compassion to help keep our communities safe.

Thank you, Officer Treadway, for your continued service and dedication to our community.

Today's "Look Back" takes us back to our old headquarters on Dixie Highway!

Our department moved to our current station in Independence in 1975, making it the third headquarters in our 104 year history. The move to our current building provided the much needed space to support an expanding team of officers and allowed us to better serve our community.

Fun fact: In the 1930s, the Kenton County Police Department operated out of three separate stations simultaneously!
