We finished up our Nature Classes with an all-school field trip up to the Iron Goat Trail!

We are so grateful to the faculty, parents, school board members, and community volunteers that supported this trip! Beautiful weather, new plants, historical explorations, tunnels, bridges, and views. It’s been a wonderful year in the outdoor classroom and we look forward to starting back up in the fall!

Nature Class is brought to the school through a partnership with Friends of Heybrook Ridge and is supported by the North American Association for Environmental Education - NAAEE- NAAEE CEE Change Fellowship.

Students are getting ready for summer adventures by learning more about our neighbors, the American Black Bears!

We partnered with the fine folks from Conservation Northwest and Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife to understand how to react to different bear encounters, as well as how to keep our homes (and campsites) bear-wise. WDFW also brought along educational tools (black bear pelt, skull replica, and track casts) for students to connect deeper with bears.
