The Indialantic Police Department is participating in Operation Southern Slow Down. We are committed to enhancing public safety by strictly enforcing speed limits and other violations.

Operation Southern Slow Down is an annual, week-long traffic safety and high-visibility speed enforcement campaign held across five Southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Conducted in partnership with the ⁠National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the initiative typically runs in mid-July. The goal is to reduce speed-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities during the busy summer travel season through a combination of public awareness and strict enforcement.

Motorists traveling through these states during the campaign should expect a substantially increased presence of state troopers and local law enforcement agencies targeting speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic violations.

Slow down. Save lives. Also, you’re driving in a beachside community. Chill and enjoy the beachside vibe.

Chief Connor has spoken with the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, and an anomaly occurred this evening during a static fire test for Blue Origin. There is no threat to the general public and Blue Origin will be releasing an official statement.

On behalf of the Indialantic Police Department, we wish to thank CFO Blaise Ingoglia for his continued support of local law enforcement and our officers serving under the 287(g) Immigration Task Force. His partnership and commitment to public safety strengthens our ability to work alongside federal authorities in addressing illegal immigration, and keeping our community safe.

This afternoon I was honored to stand with the State of Florida's Chief Financial Officer, Blaise Ingoglia, along with Chief Chris Kuehn of Cocoa Beach Police Department and Chief Mike Connor of Indialantic Police Department regarding immigration enforcement in the state of Florida!!

CFO Ingoglia presented our respective agencies with reimbursement funds from the State Board of Immigration Enforcement. The funds allow our agency to work with local, state, and federal partners through the 287g program to take illegal aliens off of our streets while enforcing the immigration laws of our great nation!!

I want to personally thank CFO Ingoglia and his team for their work to help facilitate this program across the State of Florida as we lead the nation in fighting illegal immigration!!
