Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Jackson on earning the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Advanced Firefighter Certificate.

This certification is not simply another class or credential. It represents years of dedication to the fire service, continued professional development, and a commitment to mastering the knowledge and skills required to serve both the community and fellow firefighters at a higher level.

To obtain the Advanced Firefighter Certificate, firefighters must meet extensive requirements involving a combination of experience, education, certifications, and documented training. This includes progressing beyond the basics of firefighting and demonstrating competence in areas such as leadership, fireground operations, instructor development, technical knowledge, and overall professional growth within the fire service.

Programs like this help strengthen the fire service across North Carolina by encouraging firefighters and officers to pursue lifelong learning, maintain high standards, and continue advancing the profession.

Well done, DC! 👏🏼

Over the last four days, multiple agencies across the Bogue Banks coordinated training that allowed personnel to work together in mitigating dynamic water rescue incidents. These operations involved Carteret County Emergency Services, United States Coast Guard, Atlantic Beach Fire Department, Pine Knoll Shores Fire Department, Emerald Isle Fire Department, Indian Beach Fire Department, and other assisting resources within the county.

This training provided a unique opportunity to see how other agencies operate, understand their equipment and tactics, and share knowledge to strengthen operations and communications before the next critical incident.

Thank you to all agencies that dedicated their time, effort, and expertise over the last few days to help keep our communities safe.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of celebrating one of our Captains as he begins a new chapter. With a room full of friends, coworkers, and family, it was a powerful reminder of the bonds that the fire service creates and the imprint you can leave when you care about the job.

While we are sad to see him go, we are proud of all his accomplishments and thankful for the impact he had within our department and our community. From everyone at IBFD, thank you for your dedication, leadership, and brotherhood.

We wish you nothing but success on the road ahead Captain Puff.

A special congratulations to our own Deputy Chief Jackson for serving as a conference speaker and sharing knowledge, experience, and leadership with fire service professionals from across the state at the Mid-Winter Chiefs Conference hosted by the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs in Concord.

Chief Whitley, Deputy Chief Jackson, and Captain Lang were able to attend for the better part of the week, learning, networking, and gaining valuable insight and training to bring back to our community.

Strong leadership, continued education, and involvement in the fire service beyond our district lines are what continue to move the profession forward. Well done to everyone who represented our department.
