π€ Watercraft & Watercraft Trailer Ordinance Update
The City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-07, updating regulations for the parking and storage of boats and boat trailers on residential property.
What does this mean for residents?
β
Boats 26 feet or less may continue to be stored in front yards if they meet certain requirements, including a maximum height of 14 feet, and cannot reasonably fit in a side or rear yard.
β
A permit from the City will now be required for boats stored in front yards. Residents will need to submit information about the boat and trailer, a valid driverβs license, and the parking location. This can be obtained from City Hall starting June 24, 2026.
β
Boats and trailers must be parked on an approved surface, such as a paved driveway, pavers, gravel, or crushed coquina, and must not block sidewalks, streets, or rights-of-way.
β
Boats must have current registrations, trailers must have current license plates, and both must be maintained in a neat and safe condition.
β
Boats stored in front yards must be covered to limit visibility into the vessel and help prevent access by children.
π« Boats exceeding 26 feet in length may not be stored in front yards and must be located in a side yard, rear yard, garage, or enclosed structure.
The permit packet will be posted to the City website by the end of the week and an updated link will be provided.
