Some of you have probably seen in the press that Xcel is considering another PSPS (public safety power shutoff) for later this week. As of the latest information that we have from local emergency managers, that PSPS has been cancelled for now. We will continue to share any relevant information as it becomes available.

Having said that, and despite the recent snowfall, fire danger remains high across the front range. A red flag warning is in effect today for areas below 6,000 feet. While that excludes IHFR's fire district, it does trigger a county-wide fire ban. Additionally, all of Jefferson County remains in Stage 1 fire restrictions. Even though our district is not part of today's red flag warning, fire danger remains elevated. As we've said often in the past, we appreciate everyone's attention to fire safety.

The weather pattern for the next few days is going to be a bit complicated, and the fire danger will be high.

For today, there is a red flag warning in effect from 11AM to 6PM. Winds may gust up to 35 MPH and relative humidity will be as low as 11 percent.

Tomorrow the winds may be even higher than today. For now the NWS has issued a fire weather watch for tomorrow, but that may be upgraded to a red flag warning.

As always, this means a burn ban is in effect for all of Jefferson County. Please be careful with any potential source of ignition, and thank you for helping to keep our mountain communities safe!

Red Flag warning in effect today from 10AM to 5PM, due to the warm, dry, windy weather. We expect to see wind gusts up to 40 MPH.

12/18/2025

Due to the continued high winds and associated fire danger, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has extended Stage 1 fire restrictions until further notice.

We know most of you are still without power. As we do every day, IHFR stands ready to respond to any emergencies in our community.
