As we celebrate women's day today, let's remember all the women who contributed to build Nevada's heritage over time:

From Dat So La Lee the artist basket weaver, Jeanne Wier, one of the founder of Nevada Historical society, ''Wild Horse Annie'' who advocated for the protection of our wild horses and Burros, or Ruby Duncan who marched on Las Vegas strip to restore the pride of the lower-class workers and their benefits.

And so many more who never became famous but contributed to the economy of Nevada by feeding miners, managing hotels and ranches, or spending 6 weeks in Reno to get a full divorce, fueling the economy of casinos, dude ranches and ball rooms at a time where being an independent woman was not at all a walk in the park.

Thank you to all the women in our state and beyond!

Winter is such a critical time to replenish watersheds thanks to snow pack. As of end of December, Nevada's data stations show an overall 70% of snow drought, with a warm fall and start of winter that has impacted even higher elevation snow pack across the state. Thanks to the holidays storm, the Sierra is near-above it's median Snow Water Equivalent.

One of Nevada's natural wonder, Cathedral Gorge State Park near Pioche & Caliente offers a glimpse of how nature and climate can transform a landscape from volcanic ashes to under-water lake castles and finally, the beauty of Bentonite clay dentelle that one can admire by walking through canyons and along the trails.
Another marvel made in Nevada.

While fall slowly changes our landscape into winter, it's time to remember our visit to the Great Basin National Park

One of the most undermined National Parks in the country due to its location in the far eastern part of Nevada, but easily accessible from Ely. The road will bring you up to a breathtaking view of the desert plaines to the east and Utah, and the majestic Wheeler peak glacier, the only glacier in the all Nevada state.
If you are on for a little hike, the Alpine lakes loop trail will be a great start to admire the mountain lakes.
With about 150,000 visitors each year, the Great Basin National Park surely is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the American west, while staying away from the crowd.

Discover Ward charcoal oven state park just a short drive from Ely, NV.
Those strange buildings looking like beehives from afar were used for a short 3 years span (1876-1879) to produce charcoal from the pine trees located just around the site. Charcoal was then fueling the processing of silver ore, until the local silver mines declined.
Unfortunately, even that short period of time has heavily impacted the area where most of the trees have disappeared, changing forever the landscape of this beautiful valley just outside Ely.

Today we celebrate Nevada's day!
While Nevada territory was created in 1861, it was proclaimed the 36th state of the Union by President Lincoln on the 31st October 1864, opening the path to a representation at the Senate in February 1865.

Happy birthday to our home state!

Roadtrip anyone?

We tested the ''loneliest road of America'' from Carson City to Ely, and we loved it!

From it's long stretch line of single road to nowhere, to the old time western atmosphere of Austin, Eureka and Ely and the detour of Hickison Petroglyphs recreation area, a hidden place that offers a stunning view to the mountains and a snapshot of ancient petroglyphs. Did we forget about the elusive silhouettes of two mustangs?

Do we really need to talk about the view?🤩

Nevada with its astonishing 86% of uninhabited land - a total of 95,00+ sq mi - is a National Park of its own. Some may think about it as emptiness, we see it as wilderness, where brushes, trees and small animals are the main character of a great resilience story.
