Tonight we had the honor of recognizing Firefighters Tylor Sondker and Spencer Davis for completing their first year of probation with PSFRD.

This ceremony also marked the beginning of a new PSFRD tradition. Tylor and Spencer became the first firefighters to turn in their probationary helmet shields and sign their names, creating a legacy that future firefighters will add to as they complete probation. It serves as a reminder of the dedication required to earn their place on our team and the responsibility to mentor those who follow.

They were then presented with their new firefighter helmet shields, symbolizing their transition to full members of the PSFRD family.

This tradition is especially meaningful because it reflects the District and the Union coming together as one to celebrate our firefighters and strengthen the culture and camaraderie that define the fire service.

🚒 INCIDENT UPDATE: Residential Structure Fire in Indian Rocks Beach 🚒
​Earlier today, June 2, at approximately 11:54 AM, Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue crews along with Largo Fire Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire near 20th Ave and 2nd Street.
​First-arriving units found heavy amounts of smoke through the windows and were greeted with significant heat upon entry.
Thanks to a rapid dispatch and response, firefighters quickly established a water supply, secured utilities, and brought the fire under control.
​Our search-and-rescue team located a cat and brought it outside. Crews immediately initiated CPR and administered oxygen doing everything they could to revive the pet understanding that pets are family members too.

Thank you to our partners at the City of Largo, Florida USA, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Sunstar Paramedics, and other neighboring agencies for their swift assistance with traffic control and scene safety.

​Status: The scene has been cleared and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
-No civilian or firefighter injuries occurred.
-1 cat was pronounced deceased.
