Alice Paul House Provides confidential services to victims/survivors of DV, SA, other crime and juvenile offenders COUNSELING ADVOCACY
APH supports you on your healing journey.

The mission of Alice Paul House is to educate, advocate and empower all victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, other crimes and juvenile offenders.

24-HOUR SERVICES
A certified trauma-informed advocate is available to provide support and guidance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to include weekends and holidays. APH advocates utilize safety planning measures when working with victims/survivors, their children, and significant others. This includes steps and options for increasing safety and preparing for future victimization. Advocates use a trauma-informed approach, with its foundation on the basis of the sanctuary model, "do no harm." This involves active listening, empathy, and acknowledgment of the victim/survivor's reality as they are experiencing it. Advocates are professionally trained and certified in trauma-informed techniques providing assistance to trauma survivors and their significant others. A person who has been victimized often struggles with relationship difficulties, feelings of guilt, grief and loss, and flashbacks. Our confidential services can assist you in processing these feelings. EDUCATION ADVOCACY
Our advocates provide strategies to prevent victimization by focusing on conditions that reduce violence. Education focused evidence-based programming assists our clients and the community in understanding domestic violence, sexual assault, and more. Evidence-Based & Research-Supported Programs
APH provides various options for the delivery of evidence-based programming for victims/survivors engaged in counseling advocacy. This refers to specific programmatic activities which are based on the review of available research and ongoing research efforts. Legal/Medical Advocacy
APH advocates provide information, support, and empowerment to all victims and significant others of; domestic violence, sexual assault, Title 18 crimes, and juvenile offenders. We provide services on-site, hospitals, police stations, and court proceedings. School Prevention & Awareness Programs
APH strives to provide evidence-based and research supported prevention and awareness programming to all schools located in Indiana County. With the goal of reducing incidences of future victimizations, our programs are age-appropriate and trauma-informed.

Domestic violence does not happen in a vacuum. For people who experience things like poverty, lack of access to safe and affordable housing, and other inequities, the impact of domestic violence can be even worse. When we come together as a community to address these risk factors, like ensuring that everyone has an affordable place to live, people will be less likely to experience domestic violence in the first place.
