The Franklin Township Education Foundation is proud to present Mission Monday! 💙
Each Monday, we will be sharing a post highlighting the impact that FTEF has been able to have on Franklin Township students and teachers thanks to your support. What better person to kick off Mission Monday with than Jenny Monday?
FTEF was happy to award Jenny, Franklin Township's Elementary Media Center Coordinator, $3,760.02 for her “Library of Awesome Animals” Grant Project. When asked what the vision for this project was, Jenny said it was “to spark curiosity, build knowledge, and foster a love of reading through a fresh and engaging collection of nonfiction animal books in the school library.” The funds were used to purchase brand new sets of nonfiction animal books to distribute between our elementary school libraries. Jenny said that “students are naturally drawn to animals, and high-interest nonfiction provides a powerful gateway into reading for both pleasure and learning. By updating and expanding our animal book collection, we will give students access to accurate, age-appropriate, and visually engaging resources that support classroom learning and independent exploration.”
Jenny’s project was able to impact roughly 2,700 students across our district’s elementary schools. She said that the books were extremely popular and are having a huge impact on the students! She even said that she overheard a student saying, “Whoa - I have never seen a pink river dolphin. I am going to get this book today!" When asked how the project was impacting students, Jenny said that “this grant has promoted equity by ensuring all students have access to quality, updated nonfiction animal books. The books have increased circulation of nonfiction animal books, expanded knowledge of various animals, increased interest and excitement about reading, and supported reading skills.” She also took a moment to thank FTEF, saying she is “so thankful for the generosity of FTEF for funding this grant that is impacting so many students and will continue to for years to come!”
