🏘 Affordable Housing Spotlight πŸ’‘

Meadow Dell Apartments, located at 110 Meadow Dell Avenue in Salem, includes 20 single-story buildings made up of 40 one-bedroom units. This community provides housing for seniors 62+ or individuals with disabilities of any age. The property is less than a mile from downtown Salem, and within walking distance to parks, library, medical and dental providers, retail, and grocery stores with fresh produce πŸ₯¬

The property was constructed in 1974 using USDA Rural Development financing. After almost 50 years of providing affordable housing, the property needed rehabilitation to improve energy efficiency and preserve its affordability. In 2020, IHCDA awarded HOME funds to Washington County Senior Citizens Housing to provide the needed renovations to ensure the property continues to serve the citizens of Salem.

The Indiana Housing Dashboard launched early in 2022 and has been undergoing improvements and updates since. The Dashboard provides local units of government, housing industry professionals, and community planners with data, insights, and tools in the housing needs assessment and planning processes πŸ“ˆ

Dashboard users have access to more than 75 charts which present data points for a city, town, county, or the state showing how the data has changed over time and in comparison to as many as five other geographies. The data is grouped into categories including Population and Demographics, Housing Supply and Affordability, and Renter and Homeowner Housing Needs 🏠

In addition to this data, the Dashboard provides information about how to create a housing plan, how to set data-informed priorities, and how to find policies and programs. These tools are all intended to equip groups to take action in their communities.

Welcome to the Indiana State Housing Dashboard, a platform for users to track demographic and housing trends across the state at a county-by-county level.
