Let’s Cleanup Our Alleys!

Greetings Neighbors,

If you're anything like me, it's been hard to get motivated over the past two or three years. As things gets back to normal, I've slowly started to catch up on tasks around the house. One of the things that I think we've all neglected is our alleyways. They're currently overgrown and full of litter.

Over the next couple weekends, please make an effort to cut down the brush, mow the grass and cleanup the litter along the alley behind your house.

Just remember, were all doing our best and all need a helping hand from time to time. If you have extra energy, please also consider helping your neighbors as well.

A quick reminder during the holiday weekend to please be careful with your fireworks…or leave them to the professionals. Neighbors on the 1st block of Dearborn lost their shed tonight due to someone setting off fireworks in the alley. Thankfully neighbors saw the flames & IFD responded very quickly and prevented it from spreading to houses or nearby buildings. While we’re at it - fireworks can be torture for folks with mental illness, PTSD or people with little kids not to mention pets so if you must set off fireworks you may consider an area away from homes. Wishing everyone a SAFE and happy 4th!

We have lots of thank yous to share for the first neighborhood cleanup we’ve done in awhile. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped pick up trash & beautify our streets & alleys. Not only did neighbors come out but the principal of Brookside School 54 lent a helping hand too! And as always, a big thank you to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. for the supplies and use of a dumpster as well! We hope to schedule another cleanup in the fall so stay tuned for dates!

This local spot is a gem in our neighborhood! If you know of someone needing a job please reach out to Carlos at Tlaolli! For the rest of us - PLEASE make a point to order lunch or dinner soon! We’re sure with their post they will see a peak in traffic but we need to make sure we keep visiting so it is sustainable business for them! If you haven’t never visited trust us, you’ll enjoy! We can recommend the ECDC Torta named after Englewood Community Development and if you’re looking for tasty vegan options you’ve found the right spot!

Dear Indianapolis Tlaolli family,
We are going to take a moment for transparency and realness about what’s happening here at Tlaolli. We’ve been trying at an exhausting rate to keep up with all the hardships of COVID. Across the city our industry has been hit very very hard, operating short staffed seems to be a theme among majority of the restaurant industry. We’ve done as much as thinly spread for as long as we can. We have three employees. Two part time workers and one full time worker plus Carlos. It’s been rough. We’ve reduced hours hoping it would help but we seem to have to take a different approach at this time. We will be open this week only Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11am-6pm, this will likely become our new days/hours until we are able to get the staff and support we need. So we are asking you, Indianapolis, to please help us. Spread word that we are hiring. Recommended your food and hospitality friends. Tlaolli is a beautiful east side restaurant with delicious specialty foods and an amazing kind owner. We want more than anything to keep Carlos’ restaurant dreams alive and thriving. Help us continue to serve you, and help us keep this hidden gem shining on the east side
