How is Artificial Intelligence impacting police reporting? How is machine-generated evidence impacting justice?

AI is quietly entering the police record. Departments are increasingly using AI tools to draft incident reports, generate use-of-force narratives, and produce records that are landing in oversight investigations, administrative proceedings, and courtrooms — often without disclosure.

So what does civilian oversight need to know?

That's the focus of NACOLE's July webinar. Rob Thies — drawing on his experience in federal criminal defense investigation and AI policy work — will walk through how AI-generated and AI-assisted police reports are actually produced, the patterns and errors they tend to contain, and how to tell when a report has been AI-assisted, including what to ask when the underlying system isn't disclosed.

Tomorrow: NACOLE's Jail & Prison Oversight Forum takes on reproductive justice in jails and prisons.

Join us Tuesday, June 23, 1–2 p.m. ET / 10–11 a.m. PT for an open online conversation about the reproductive health concerns facing incarcerated people — access to care, health and safety during pregnancy and the postpartum period, autonomous decision-making, and family separation — along with the strategies oversight bodies can use to address them.

We'll hear from Emily Werth, Senior Supervising Attorney at the ACLU of Illinois, who has litigated and written on these issues, followed by open discussion facilitated by Amarik Singh, Chair of NACOLE's Jail & Prison Oversight Committee and Inspector General of the California Office of the Inspector General.
