🏆 #1 in Indiana. Twice. 🏆

The 2026 ILEARN results are in, and our students made history!

📚 Our English Learners scored #1 in Indiana in reading, math, and both combined among schools serving 100+ English Learners.

📈 Our Black students scored #1 in Indiana in reading, math, and both combined among schools serving 150+ Black students.

And there's more to celebrate:

✨ Our 7th graders had the highest math scores among Indianapolis's mayor-sponsored charter and IPS schools.
✨ 67% of our 3rd graders passed reading, compared to 41% statewide.
✨ Schoolwide, we scored 20 points above the state in math.

This belongs to our students, who worked hard every single day, and to the families and staff who believed in them.

Thank you, IMSA West! 💙💛

🌧️ Weather + STEM = Learning in Action! 🧪

Our kindergarten scientists in Ms. Boluwaji’s class have been busy exploring the weather in a project-based learning series all week! They noticed that when it rains, the ground gets wet - and so do we if we forget our raincoats! ☔

So, they put their observations to the test: Could they design a raincoat using plastic, a material that keeps water out? Pretty smart thinking! 👏🏾

Then came the engineering challenge! Students were given household materials and a block to protect from the “rain.” They created different designs, made predictions, tested their ideas with a handy-dandy spray bottle, and discovered which designs kept their blocks dry. 💧🧱

Along the way, our young learners practiced communication, collaboration, creative thinking, problem-solving, and perseverance…all while having FUN!

This is what STEM learning is all about: authentic, hands-on experiences that engage every learner and turn curiosity into discovery. 🌟

Way to go, kindergarten scientists! 👩🏽‍🔬👨🏿‍🔬

🌿🔎 Little Explorers, BIG Discoveries! 🐞🌱

Today, our preschool class (Tiny Tigers! 🐯) traded four walls for the great outdoors and headed out on a nature walk! 🌳👣

With curious eyes and eager hands, our young scientists observed leaves, searched for bugs, noticed patterns and colors, compared textures, and asked BIG questions about the world around them. 🍂🐜🌼

Taking learning outdoors gives children the chance to experience STEM in a meaningful, hands-on way. They’re naturally practicing science through observation and math through counting, sorting, measuring, and comparing. 🔬📏

The best part? They’re learning through wonder, movement, play, and discovery.. exactly the way young minds learn best! 💚

Here’s to nature walks, curious questions, joyful discoveries, and a classroom without walls! 🌎✨

🔬🌿 STEM Adventures in the Wild! 🌿🔎

Our second-grade scientists at Indiana Math and Science Academy West wrapped up their STEM adventures with an exciting exploration of the great outdoors! 🧪✨

Mrs. Orebanjo’s class became tiny scientists for the day, making observations, recording their findings, and using magnifying glasses to take a closer look at the world around them. 👀🔍

We love seeing our scholars turn curiosity into discovery! Way to explore, observe, and learn, scientists! 🧡

🚀 STEM in action! 💡

Today, our Computer Science students put the engineering design process to the test! Mr. Kitchen challenged students to use just aluminum foil to design, build, test, and redesign a boat capable of holding the greatest number of coins. 🚢🪙

Through this fun, hands-on STEM challenge, students practiced creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, and resilience learning that great engineers don’t give up when something doesn’t work. They redesign, try again, and keep improving! 💪🏾✨

We’re so proud of our innovative learners! 🎉👏🏾

📚 Interested in joining our school community? We’re nearing full capacity, but select grades still have a couple of open seats! If your family is interested in enrolling, reach out to learn more and secure your student’s spot. 🏫💙
