🌎 Honoring Immigrants on National Immigrants Day 🌎

Today, we celebrate the strength, dreams and resilience that immigrants bring to Indiana and to our nation. The journey of America has always been, and will always be, deeply tied to those who come here seeking a better life. These are our neighbors, friends, teachers, doctors, and community leaders—people who enrich every part of our society with their cultures, languages and dreams. 🗽

At a time when divisive voices seek to foster fear, let's stand firm in the truth: our diversity is our greatest strength. Immigrants have built and continue to build our country’s industries, communities and future. They have given us music, art, food, innovation and an enduring reminder of what it truly means to believe in the American Dream. And as a nation founded by immigrants, we are called to protect that dream for future generations.

The Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus proudly stands with every immigrant who calls this great nation home. Today, and every day, we are united in celebrating your contributions, your courage and your relentless pursuit of a brighter tomorrow. Let’s ensure that America remains a place where every person, regardless of birthplace, can pursue opportunity and share in our collective future. Together, we are stronger. Together, we are Indiana. 🌎💙

I am so excited to see this level of investment in our community. This $24 million will expand cargo capacity at the Gary / Chicago International Airport, which already ranks third in freight volume in our state.
Thank you to Congressman Mrvan, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and the state of Indiana for the work behind this incredible infrastructure upgrade. tinyurl.com/2ps6vpf2

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the vibrant cultures, enduring resilience and invaluable contributions of Native American and Indigenous communities.

In Indiana, we recognize the deep histories and legacies of the Miami, Potawatomi, Delaware, Shawnee, Kickapoo, and Wea tribes, whose lands we live on today. Their influence continues to shape our state’s identity, even as their communities have faced centuries of displacement and adversity.

This day is not only an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of Indigenous peoples but also to reflect on the work still needed to support Indigenous rights, protect sacred lands and ensure justice for all.

We stand committed to elevating Indigenous voices and advocating for a future rooted in respect, equality and acknowledgment of the past.

As the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur is a time for reflection, prayer and seeking forgiveness. May this day of atonement bring peace, healing and renewal to all those partaking in the solemn fast and prayers. We stand with our Jewish friends and neighbors across Indiana during this sacred time.
G’mar Chatima Tova—may you be sealed in the Book of Life.

🌈 Today is National Coming Out Day 🌈

We celebrate the courage it takes to live as your authentic self, honoring the strength shown every day by those who bravely share their truth with the world. 💖

Coming out is an act of advocacy that transcends just one day, breaking down barriers and inspiring hope. ✨ Yet, we acknowledge that every journey is different. For some, sharing who they are isn’t always safe, especially in an environment that can be unwelcoming. We see you, and we honor those who couldn’t fully live their truth openly.

Our commitment remains firm—we will continue fighting for an Indiana where everyone can feel safe and accepted. 🌟 Thank you for being unapologetically you. 💙
