The Franklin Township Historical Society preserves the history of Franklin Township, Indianapolis, Indiana through books, artifacts, photographs, programs, tours and more. It is at the website that you will find that our Open Hours are from 2 to 4
on the first Saturday and the third Sunday of the month for most of the year, for instance, as well as by appointment. We do tours of our 1871 Meeting H

ouse, offer presentations to school and Scout groups and to interested adults, and publish books about township history.

A Day of Rain & Shine! 😄 We set up in a downpour this morning for today's Franklin Township Historical Society 50th Anniversary event, not knowing if the rain would stop in time for anyone to attend. But a couple of hours later the sky cleared and people came! 😃

Events will be at 6510 S. Franklin Rd, but please park in the south portion of The Creek's lot next door in order to leave our small gravel lot available for those with limited mobility.

Join other Franklin Township Historical Society members for a visit to the Indiana History Center and see the exhibit on interurbans, which were responsible for much of the development of Franklin Township’s early population centers of New Bethel (now Wanamaker) and Acton. After touring the exhibit, stay and have lunch at the Stardust Terrace Café on the canal! 😀

Cost: Admission to the Indiana History Center and your individual lunch purchase. History Center admission is free for IHS members and military/veterans (with military ID), or $15 for Adult/$14 for Seniors or non-members.
