The Adoption Home Study Specialist is responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and overseeing adoption home studies for families pursuing domestic and international adoptions. This position works collaboratively with adoptive families, contract social workers, and adoption agencies to ensure all home study requirements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with agency, state, federal, and international regulations. Why do some women choose adoption?

Every adoption story is unique. Birth mothers may choose adoption for many different reasons.

Our birth mother counselors are there from the very first call to our agency and continue to provide support every step of the way. Their goal is to ensure that each woman fully understands her options and can make an informed decision that is right for her and her child. While adoption is one option, our agency can also help connect women with resources and support for parenting.

While every situation is different, one thing remains the same: these decisions are often made with deep thought, love, and concern for a child's future.

For more than 100 years, St. Elizabeth Coleman has been honored to walk alongside birth mothers and hear their unique adoption stories. Through our Birth Mother Luncheons, we provide a space for women to share their experiences openly and authentically. From stories of reunification and connection to stories of grief, healing, and growth, every journey is different, and every voice matters. We are grateful for the trust birth mothers place in us and remain committed to listening with compassion and respect. ❤️

One of the best ways to learn about positive adoption language is to listen.
Adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents may have different preferences when describing their experiences. Respecting those preferences matters.
Positive language begins with empathy and a willingness to learn.
