Authorities in Plainfield are asking the community to help find a missing 17-year-old girl whose sudden disappearance has left loved ones worried and searching for answers.
Penelope McGowan was last seen after leaving school with her older sister. According to investigators, her sister dropped her off in the neighborhood where Penelope lives with her father. After that moment, Penelope has not contacted any family members or friends, and no one has seen or heard from her since.
Police were able to track the last signal from her cell phone to Moon Road heading south, just past U.S. 40. Not long after that location was recorded, her phone appeared to be turned off.
Penelope is described as about 5 feet 4 inches tall and around 130 pounds. She has red hair and hazel eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing a white shirt, blue pants, and a black jacket with a fur-lined hood. She was also carrying a backpack.
At this time, investigators do not know if Penelope is with someone or traveling on her own, and her current location remains unknown. Police are asking anyone who may have seen her or knows anything about where she might be to contact the Plainfield Police Department immediately.
