Last week we celebrated the completion of our 21st house in Warren County with an Open House/Dedication for Trisha Cox and her two children. A big THANK YOU to our dedicated Board of Directors, our amazing volunteers, and the support we receive from local churches, organizations, contractors, community members, Warren County, the City of Indianola, and our State Support Organization. God bless you all! We couldn’t do it without you. Congratulations Trisha, Zander, and Ana. May your new home be filled with love, laughter, and happiness. 🏡

Iowa Finance Authority Awards Warren County Habitat for Humanity $50,000 to Support Construction of Home in Indianola

(DES MOINES) – The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Board of Directors today awarded a $50,000 State Housing Trust Fund grant to Warren County Habitat for Humanity to support the construction of a single-family home in Indianola. The funding is made available through the State Housing Trust Fund’s Project-Based Housing Program.

“IFA’s long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity affiliates under the Project-Based Housing Program has assisted 110 Iowa families in achieving their dreams of homeownership,” said IFA Director Debi Durham. “The awards announced today will assist this family in not only opening the door to homeownership but also to upward economic mobility, wealth creation and pride of ownership.”

The Warren County Habitat for Humanity will use a $50,000 State Housing Trust Fund grant to assist in the construction of a single-family home on a vacant infill lot in Indianola. The Habitat for Humanity home will be sold to an income-qualified homebuyer who will receive financial, home repair, homeownership and foreclosure prevention education and must also complete the required sweat equity hours prior to closing on the homes.

“We are honored to receive this support through the State Housing Trust Fund,” said Warren County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Agi Gavin. “This marks a significant milestone in our mission to build homes and empower families to achieve their dreams of homeownership in the community.”

The State Housing Trust Fund has awarded more than $123.7 million in funding and has assisted more than 39,000 affordable housing units since the program’s inception in 2003. These awards have leveraged an additional $181.1 million or $1.46 in other resources for every dollar of State Housing Trust Fund funding.

We could not do it without the help of our builder’s club, volunteers and the family own sweat equity.
