We want an America that is still the world's strongest force for peace and freedom. And we want an America that is coming together around our enduring values, instead of drifting apart. Our policies and our humanness direct our actions. Excessive or criminal behavior by our members is not tolerated. We provide each other support but we will intervene if we observe actions that cross the line of human decency.

We denounce racism in all forms.

We pledge to do everything in our power to treat all people with the respect and dignity that each of us as human beings deserve.

We pledge to treat you how we would want to be treated.

We pledge to use only enough force to control a situation.

We pledge to de-escalate as soon as possible.

We pledge to hold each other accountable.

We pledge to intervene if we see one of our own doing something out of line.

We pledge to root out racism where and when we see it.

We pledge to be an exemplary example of policing and provide service in an upstanding manner to this exemplary community.

Thank you Norwalk for your support and the willingness to allow us to provide for your safety. You have high expectations for us and we welcome the challenge of achieving those ideals.

As the Simpson College calendar turns to May Term, the Culver Fellows Senior Spotlight turns to Abby Schulte!

Hometown: Keota, Iowa

Majors: Political Science and History

--What is your favorite memory of civic or political engagement from your time as a Culver Fellow at Simpson?

If I had to pick a favorite memory, I would choose helping to run the mock caucus simulations this past year! It was such a fun, engaging way to teach students about the caucus process, and everyone did a great job of embracing the superhero theme. When I applied to the Culver Fellows program, my goal was to participate in activities that would promote opportunities to create positive change through civic engagement. This was just one of many opportunities through the Culver Center where I was able to do just that.

--What is one piece of advice for new first-year Culver Fellows joining the program this fall?

There are so many opportunities with the Culver Center to learn new things, meet new people, and be involved with meaningful civic engagement work. My advice is to take advantage of as many of these opportunities as possible!

--What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to take a gap year and gain some work experience before pursuing graduate school for history/museum studies.

Remember to complete your absentee ballot requests by May 22nd.
