Great opportunity to volunteer from your home! Help the Food Bank of Iowa by making T-shirt bags and dropping them off at one of their locations.

As Food Bank of Iowa mobilizes to meet the increased need for food, we are in need of bags to support the mobile pantries and school distributions that have adapted via drive-thru models. Food Bank of Iowa is in need of bags and YOU can help.

A great opportunity to volunteer and give items you don’t use!

Do you ever bring home hotel size toiletries from a trip, only to have them get thrown in a drawer and never used again? Did you know the Helping Hand distributes these toiletries to our homeless clients? They are always put to good use, so if you have any you haven’t used, and would like to donate them, we will make sure to bless someone! Thank you!

#Inclusion

The Rochester Deaf Rotary (RDR) Club is the first of its kind to be run by the deaf, for the deaf. They promote the life, welfare, and education of #deaf and hard-of-hearing people of all ages through direct service while also advancing deaf awareness in their community and around the world.

Fun fact: most Rotary club meetings conclude by ringing a bell; the RDR club has a unique visual bell that emits a strobe light when rung for deaf club members to see!

Do you know that the largest Rotary Logo in the world rests in Lamon Bay, Atimonan, Quezon, Philippines?

The project was a combined effort of Rotarians and fishermen in creating an artificial reef to protect and help grow the fishing industry.

This is certainly an interesting way in thinking outside the box to promote Rotary don't you think?

An education and the ability to read and write is something we all take for granted. Even something as simple as reading this post is unavailable to so many.

For the month of September Rotary brings a particular focus to the basic education and literacy of all throughout the globe.

It has been 50 years since man landed on the moon. The first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, was also the first Rotarian on the moon! 🚀🌚

#manonthemoon #firstrotarian #serviceaboveself #peopleofaction

Neil Armstrong - Former U.S. astronaut was an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Wapakoneta, Ohio, U.S.A.

Neil Alden Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, August 5, 1930 and died in Cincinnati, August 25, 2012.

He was a United States astronaut, test pilot and naval aviator who wrote his name in twentieth century history and humanity to be the first man on the moon as commander of Apollo 11 mission to the moon in July, 1969.

This is why we eat dust for nine days parking cars for Balloons.

The Rotary Club of Indianola is a service club. We need to raise funds to finance our numerous service projects throughout the years. Parking cars for the National Balloon Classic is our major fundraiser of the year. We expect everyone to work seven of the nine days. It requires approximately 770 service hours (about 14 hours per individual). We typically raise about $5000 for the nine-day event.
Our service projects include: presenting dictionaries to each 3rd grader in Indianola; planting trees along the Great Western Bike Trail, providing meals once a month for Young Parents, donating to Wee Care, providing warm coats for kids; sending four high school students to Rotary Youth Leadership Award training each year; donating to Boy Scouts; coordinating food drives for Helping Hand; providing two Little Free Libraries in Indianola; helping build an Inclusive Playground at Pickard Park; building a stage at Memorial Park; building a gazebo at Buxton Park; donating to Habitat for Humanity; and financing international projects (Polio eradication, cleft palate repair in Gautamala, Ponsetti Club Foot repair, wells to provide clean drinking water in Tanzania, providing toilets in Africa, and sending a fire truck to Guatemala). We live our motto, “service above self.”
And, it’s fun!
