The Sunflower County EMA works with the citizens, community organizations and units of local governments in Sunflower County on issues related to preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery to and from natural or man-made disasters and other critical incidents and is responsible for reporting all damages from disasters and other critical incidents to MEMA and the National Weather Service and for requesting the needed resources from the State before, during and after a disaster. The EMA consists of emergency management, county fire, storm spotters, floodplain management and emergency medical first responders and operates with one fulltime Director with the assistance of numerous important and valuable volunteers.

Funeral services for Chief Russie McIntyre of the Drew Vol Fire Dept. are as follows:
Family visitation will be 10-11
Public visitation will be 11-1
Funeral at 1, Thursday, July 9.
A procession from Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland will leave around 9 AM. If you plan on bringing an engine from your department, be there at 8:30, no later than 8:45. Visitation and funeral will be at North Sunflower Academy with burial at the Drew Cemetery.

It is with great sorrow that the Sunflower Co Fire Coordinator’s Office announces the passing of Fire Chief Russie McIntyre of the Drew Volunteer Fire Department, who succumbed late yesterday evening following a nearly two-year battle with cancer. Chief McIntyre commenced his fire service career in 1985 and continued to respond to calls despite his illness. We request that his family and department be included in your prayers during this difficult time. Further details on arrangements will be forthcoming. Rest Easy Chief.
