Today we pause and reflect on the memory of fifteen United States Marines and their US Navy Corpsman. We never met them, but the stories we have heard from their families over the last eight years continue to echo a testimony of the warriors they were. We also honor those amazingly resilient Gold Star Families, who have adopted us into their broader family. Many only knew of the Mississippi they read about or heard about; but they now know what Mississippi is truly like. We're just humbled to be part of their journey.

So as you go about your day, say these names, and whisper a prayer for those who continue to mourn them:

Maj Caine M. Goyette
Cpt Sean Elliott
GySgt Mark A. Hopkins
GySgt Brendan C. Johnson
SSgt Joshua M. Snowden
Sgt Owen J. Lennon
Sgt Julian M. Kevianne

SSgt Robert H. Cox

Friends,
We kindly ask that you lift our friends & colleagues at AirCare - University of Mississippi Medical Center in your prayers today. This afternoon, one of their aircraft crashed outside of Jackson, with no survivors among the crew.

Our volunteers count many of AirCare's team as friends. AirCare has been a faithful supporter of our efforts, frequently training with us.

The men and women that fly our most critical patients are quiet, humble professionals who perform miracles with the ease that you tie your shoes.

Today our volunteers grieve for not only the AirCare family, but also for the family, friends and loved ones of those lost.

Twenty Five years ago, November 1, 1999, we launched our county's Emergency Medical Response program. Rescue 2 - Inverness was the first operational company in the program.

Over the years, we've expanded, and at times contracted, based on the normal ebb and flow of volunteers.

Two of our original volunteers are still serving today.

It's an honor to serve the people of our county. We are thankful for the trust and support that has been extended to our volunteers through the years.

Our volunteers are always training so we can continue to make Sunflower County a better place to be!

Terrible - Dreadful - Awful - Abominable - Frightful - Horrifying - Atrocious - Shocking - Abhorrent -

How many words do we need to use to describe the situation on some of our roads, especially in the northern end of Sunflower County?

This isn't a Nike commercial kind of day - Just DON'T Do It.

We've had a very busy afternoon and are just getting an opportunity to update:

DO NOT DRIVE!

Bridges in our area are iced over, and most of our rescue companies have responded to crashes on or near bridges this afternoon.

If you choose to drive and become involved in an accident, help will be significantly delayed in getting to you.

Trust us, it's not worth the risk.

Stay Safe!
