February is filled with heart shaped candies and fluffy companions to buy; which I shamelessly purchase each year. If you're trying to avoid all of the red and pink branding until everything goes on sale February 15th, here are some books to pass the time (fitting a Valentine's theme, of course).
Contemporary romance: Have We Met? by Camille Baker. This one was such a fun read! I loved the characters that were introduced, including all of the friends that Corinne made. The love interest was naturally developed and the banter between them, and pretty much every character, felt natural and fun. Highly recommend!
Thriller with romantic elements: The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. Now there isn't genuine affection in this book, but the relationship dynamics that occur in this thriller give some interesting examples of romance without love. By the end though, true love does show it's face... even if it looks a little odd.
Friendship: The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. To be truthful, I haven't read this yet. But when looking for an example of friendship in a book, this one caught my eye. The story spans decades on the island of Jeju, and when I read "fierce and unforgettable female divers" it immediately went on by TBR list.
For more February themed reads, head to https://buff.ly/3gmvGgC. You'll also see the Black History Month book list, which I'll talk about next week. I want to finish one of the books I'm reading for it so one of you can get your hands on it right away!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
We had over 200 people at our Stuffed Animal Sleepover last night! All of the stuffed animals had a blast staying at the library overnight. The librarians stayed late into the night to make sure all animals brushed their teeth after all of their shenanigans. 😉 Janis loves doing events for the whole family. Like this post if you would like to see more events like this one!
Due to the weather, the Morning Book Club's discussion of The Rose Code has been postponed until the Feb. 11 meeting.
Stay home and safe!
The library will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23rd - Sunday, Dec. 26th, and will reopen Monday, Dec. 27th at 10:00am. We will close again Saturday, Jan.1st, and reopen Sunday, Jan. 2nd at 1pm. Happy holidays!
Now you can click "print" from the comfort of your own home. Send your print files to the library's printer, stop by the library to pick up and pay for your print, then be on your merry way! http://indianolaiowa.gov/1037/Printing-Scanning #IPL ##locallibrary #publiclibrary #hereforyou #publicservice

Janis is back with Storytime on Thursday September 2nd!
We know that's a while, but don't despair! Here are three of Janis' favorite books from Storytime to tide us over 😊
Up first is 'This is a Ball' by Beck Stanton! Is this book a ball? Maybe you can tell us, we're not sure.
Second is 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers. What fantastical things are stuck up this tree in the summertime?
Finally we have 'And the Robot Went...' by Michelle Robinson. Our robot at the library, the book scanner, goes BEEP. Does this robot go BEEP?
All these and more are available for checkout at your public library!
Happy reading!
Summer starts June 1 at the library! Are you ready?
