At our Kids Creative Expressions Workshop, youth will dive into fun, hands-on projects that spark imagination and build confidence through creativity. 🎨🖼️

Our Cathedral City Adventure Club takes place on June 3rd at the Cathedral City Library.

Join us for a fun, creative drop-in experience! Kids can stop by anytime to enjoy a hands-on craft at their own pace. Each activity takes about 15 minutes, but participants are welcome to stay as long as they’d like in a safe and welcoming environment. This is a free activity.

Scott Sear, DRD Public Information and Governmental Affairs Officer, was honored to be at the CARPD Annual Conference last night to accept the 2026 Outstanding Community Landmark Award on behalf of the Desert Recreation District for the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club.

Designed by renowned architect Albert Frey and serving the community since 1962, the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club remains a place where history, recreation, and community come together. Today, it continues to serve residents through programs, activities, community gatherings, and public access to a landmark that is deeply rooted in the identity of North Shore.

Thank you to for this recognition, and thank you to the many DRD staff members, DRD Board of Directors, Riverside County, community partners, and residents who help preserve and activate this special facility for current and future generations. It was an honor to accept this award on behalf of everyone who has played a role in its continued success.

The Desert Recreation District proudly honored Assistant General Manager Troy Strange at last night’s Board of Directors meeting for his outstanding leadership and more than 12 years of dedicated service to our communities.

In recognition of his contributions to parks, recreation, and public service throughout the Coachella Valley, Troy also received honors from the United States Congress, the United States Senate, and the California Legislature.

Thank you, Troy, for your lasting impact on DRD and the residents we serve. We wish you all the best as you pursue new opportunities.
