A lot of times you hear of firefighters rescuing cats from trees, how about dogs from under roofs? Inez Fire Rescue recently responded to the 1600 block of East Main Street, for the report of a dog trapped in between the attic space and soffit of a structure. Upon investigation, firefighters found the dog pinned in between some of the wood structure, not allowing it to free itself. Ladder 21 was utilized to reach out over the creek bank at the rear of the structure, freeing the dog safely without injury. Firefighters were able to locate the dogs owner, safely reuniting them! Inez Fire Rescue responded Ladder 21, along with 6 personnel.

Today we had the opportunity to teach a new class, Rural Fire Operations, focused on the fundamentals of fireground operations when working with limited personnel.

In the volunteer fire service, especially during weekday business hours, having a full crew isn’t always a reality. That’s just the nature of what we do. Because of that, it’s critical we train to be efficient, adaptable, and effective with the resources we have on hand.

This class was built around those challenges—keeping things simple, practical, and applicable to real-world situations we face in our area.

We appreciate members from Inez, Warfield, Auxier, Rockhouse, and Paintsville who took the time to come out and put in the work.

It was a great day of training, and your effort and willingness to learn is what keeps our communities protected.
