Fire territory passed unanimously tonight

A Historic moment this evening in the history of Pendleton/Fall Creek Township Fire Department.

The Town of Pendleton, Green Township and Fall Creek Township Boards passed, in a unanimous vote, the formation of the South Madison Fire Territory.

In 1904, Pendleton Fire Department was established. This 100% volunteer department has served it's community and surrounding areas with professionalism, dedication, pride and honor for 118 years.

There are so many people we need to thank:

▪️ Pendleton Town Council: Chet Babb (President), Shane Davis (Vice President), Marissa Skaggs, Bob Jones and Steve Denny
▪️ Fall Creek Township Board: Fred Gaskill (Trustee), Keith Gaskill, David Martin and Tim Pritchard
▪️ Green Township Board: Greg Valentine (Trustee), Sharon Robinson, Jerry Manges and Farrell Smith
▪️ Scott Reske (Town Manager), the Town of Pendleton and its employees
▪️ Coco Bill/Marketing
▪️ Paige Sansone/Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors
▪️ Our amazing community

Steve Denny, Pendleton Town Council, spoke tonight after the vote was taken. We'd like to share a little bit of what he had to say. "I would like to thank everyone on the fire department (past and present), there are only better things to come now with the territory. I'm just really happy to be a part of this, 50 years from now, they are going to be talking about this. I appreciate everybody that has been involved. People would always talk about how they heard such wonderful things about our volunteer fire department, and I always say I think they're the top 1 or 2 in the whole state."

Chief Nodine and the members of PFD are excited for this next chapter of fire and EMS coverage for our growing community. We are committed to serving the residents, businesses and those traveling to and through our amazing community. We want to thank everyone that has supported and continues to support our members and our department. We are so thankful for each of you.

Thank you!

Have you heard about or seen the "milk crate challenge" videos on TikTok? While it might look like a fun challenge, it's a dangerous activity that can lead to injury, some in serious nature. advises to use milk crates for garage or basement storage...much safer.

A strong cluster of thunderstorms is approaching Central and Southern IN this evening. This have plenty of lightning and some stronger wind gusts. This is certainly needed for many areas dealing with a dry stretch since the back half of July.
