Today we lost Dolly Parton. A legend who never wavered in her love for the LGBTQ+ community, even when it wasn’t easy or popular. From opening Dollywood’s doors and stages to q***r performers, to speaking out for marriage equality years before many public figures dared to, to simply saying “I am not judgmental…I believe in people being who they are.” Dolly showed us what real allyship looks like: consistent, warm, and unafraid.

Her Imagination Library sent free books to millions of kids regardless of their family’s income. Her charitable giving funded COVID vaccine research, wildfire relief, and countless causes that put people over politics. She built a life around one simple idea: treat everybody with kindness, and don’t let anybody tell you who you’re allowed to love or be.

Dolly gave us the soundtrack to our lives and the blueprint for showing up for each other. It’s our responsibility to keep singing along. ♥️

Today the Supreme Court ruled 6–3 that states can bar trans girls from school sports, upholding bans in Idaho and West Virginia. It’s narrow in scope — but it clears the way for nearly 30 states with similar laws, and it tells every one of the estimated 122,000 trans teens playing high school sports nationwide that they may not be welcome.

Are you outraged? Pay attention to your local school board races.

Decisions over who can play certain sports, which bathroom someone can use, what books stay on the shelf, is decided at the school board level, in races won by a few hundred votes. Show up to volunteer. Vote down ballot.

To every trans young person: you belong on the field, the court, the track — and in this community.
