Dear Friends,

I want to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. This is an important holiday to reflect and appreciate the blessings in our lives such as family, friends, health and faith.
Last week, my office provided more than 1,000 frozen turkeys during our annual Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway. Knowing so many of our neighbors will have a festive holiday meal today gives me great joy! I appreciate all of the generous donors and volunteers who made this event possible.

I am also thankful for the honor of representing you in the California State Senate. As my time in the Legislature comes to an end on November 30, 2024, I will pass the torch to Senator-elect Laura Richardson who will soon represent you in the State Senate. I am confident that our communities are well positioned for the future.
I wish you all a wonderful and peaceful Thanksgiving Day.

Sincerely,

Steven Bradford
Senator, District 35

Honored to participate in a USDOJ panel discussion about missing or murdered Black women and girls. This is right in line with our successful work to create and pass the nation’s first Ebony Alert. It’s vital that we raise awareness on this issue and help federal agencies collaborate on new ways to find and return Black women and girls.

The Artesia Bridge grand reopening is a milestone for our community after nearly four years of disruption. I was honored secure $12 million in state funding in 2022 to restore this vital connection, easing traffic and reviving local businesses that lost up to $400,000 per week. I must also point out the disparity that exists in infrastructure repairs—while the I-10 Freeway was fixed in eight days following a 2023 fire, our community waited years. Every community deserves equal access to safe, and well-maintained infrastructure. As we celebrate the bridge’s reopening, we commit to advocating for fair investments that support growth and equity for all.

I’m thrilled to be this year’s Honorary Chair of the Black Men’s Wellness Day, hosted this year in Los Angeles. We’re bringing the clinic to the community. Black Men's Wellness Day plays a pivotal role in improving health outcomes in the African American community. It's more than an event – it’s a crucial intervention in a community disproportionately affected by health issues. I encourage each of you to get involved. Whether it's getting screened, volunteering, or spreading the word, your actions can save lives and make a profound difference.

News Alert: Two of my bills to help consumers were just signed into law! SB 1075 will save people money by reducing credit union overdraft fees. SB 924 will allow tenants in public housing to keep using their rent payment history to build their credit. Thank you, Gov. Newsom, for signing these two bills.

What a fun day celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Inglewood at their annual festival. We all enjoyed the classic car show, the health and community services offered, the live entertainment, the children's activities, and of course, the food court. Our LA Rams celebrated the occasion by awarding the winners of the Hispanic heritage art contest to students from Inglewood Unified School District.

Happy Labor Day! Proud to join the Los Angeles/ Long Beach Harbor Labor Coalition for their 45th Anniversary of the Labor Parade. The theme for this year’s parade was “Fighting for the Future of Labor.” Families from the Wilmington community lined the streets in support of their local union workers marching alongside their elected officials. The parade ended with a rally with music and food at Banning Park. Workers make California great! They all deserve our respect and support!
