🛑🚌 School Bus Safety Tip: Stop Means Stop!

When you see a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, it’s time to STOP! These signals mean students are getting on or off the bus, and a child could be crossing the road.

🚗 Motorists, remember:
🔴 Stop for a school bus displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, as required by Florida law.
🚫 Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus.
👀 Stay alert and watch for children near bus stops and along the roadway.

A few seconds of patience could save a life. Let’s do our part to protect our students and keep our roads safe!

From school to school, Citrus County students and staff are wearing orange to celebrate Unity Day and take a stand against bullying.

Unity Day reminds us that kindness matters, differences make us stronger, and everyone deserves to feel like they belong. Together, we can make a difference — one act of kindness at a time!

Lecanto Primary School kindergarteners brought their favorite book characters to life with some pumpkin creativity! A special shoutout to Mrs. Helfritz’s kindergarten class and Ms. Oldenburg’s second graders for teaming up to create book reports to go along with their pumpkin masterpieces!

🚌⚠️ School Bus Safety Tip: Stay Out of the Danger Zone!

Did you know there’s a danger zone all around a school bus where the driver may not be able to see children? 🚸

The 10 feet surrounding the bus is especially dangerous! Students should always stay at least 10 feet away from the bus until it comes to a complete stop and the driver signals it’s safe to approach. Never walk behind the bus, and if you need to cross in front, make sure you can see the driver and the driver can see you.

🛑 Remember: If you drop something near the bus, never bend down to pick it up. Tell the driver and wait for help!

A few simple safety habits can help prevent accidents and protect our students. Let’s keep our little ones safe, one ride at a time! 💛

🧰 A Great Start to Toolbox for Tomorrow’s Leaders! 🛠️

We kicked off the first week of this year’s Toolbox for Tomorrow’s Leaders program, connecting Citrus County students with local businesses and community professionals who are bringing real-world experiences into the classroom! And this is just the beginning — there are many more exciting opportunities and community partnerships to come! 🌟

👏 B. Covell Automation & Design Service— Bryon Covell visited Inverness Middle School and Lecanto Middle School, giving students an inside look at today’s workforce. Through discussions about electrical standards, automation, and design, students learned how critical thinking, problem-solving, and 21st-century skills come together to meet real customer needs.

🍽️ World Fusion — Erin and Kylie Rice brought hands-on activities to Citrus Springs Middle School, introducing students to the exciting world of culinary arts. Their presentation highlighted the creativity, skills, and leadership needed to succeed in the restaurant industry.

❤️ Who We Play For — April Royal, Melissa Smith, and Alyssa Story visited Crystal River Middle School to share their passion for heart health and their important work in our community. Through hands-on activities, students explored healthcare career opportunities and learned how leadership, knowledge, and dedication can make a difference and save lives.

A huge THANK YOU to these community partners for investing their time, sharing their expertise, and helping our students discover new interests and future career possibilities. Your involvement brings learning to life and helps students see what’s possible beyond the classroom!

We’re excited for what’s ahead as Toolbox for Tomorrow’s Leaders continues to build skills, inspire futures, and prepare the next generation of leaders! 💚

🚌💛 School Bus Safety Week is Here!

This week, we’re celebrating the everyday heroes who help our students get to and from school safely! Our school bus drivers, students, families, and motorists all play an important role in keeping our students safe.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing daily safety tips to help everyone do their part, from safe boarding and exiting to knowing when to stop for a school bus. Follow along and help us spread the word!
