πŸ”₯ Grant Award Announcement πŸ”₯

We are pleased to announce that the Inverness Fire Protection District has been awarded an $8,800 grant through the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Small Equipment Grant Program.

These funds will be used to purchase six Thermal Imaging Cameras, an essential tool that enhances firefighter safety and effectiveness during emergency operations. Thermal imaging technology allows crews to locate victims more quickly, identify hidden fire, and operate more efficiently in low-visibility conditions.

We are grateful to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for their continued support of fire departments across Illinois. Investments like this help ensure our firefighters have the equipment they need to better serve and protect our community.

πŸš’ Thank you for your ongoing support of the Inverness Fire Protection District!

🚨 A Message from Your Smoke Alarm 🚨

Hi friends! It's June 1st, and while you're enjoying summer and spending more time outdoors, I'm still standing guard indoors 24/7. 🏠

Take a moment today to press my TEST button and make sure I'm working properly. While you're at it, check the date on the back. If I'm 10 years old or older, it's time for a replacement.

Remember: Working smoke alarms save lives. ❀️

Pool season is here and warm weekends mean busy pools and lots of fun in the sun. β˜€οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

A safe pool area starts with a clean pool deck. Keep walkways clear of toys, floats, bags, cords and other objects that could cause slips, trips or falls β€” especially for children excited to jump in and play.

Taking a few minutes to tidy up the pool area can help prevent injuries and keep your pool safe and enjoyable for everyone all summer long.

Lint happens. Fires don’t have to. Lint buildup can lead to a dryer fire if it’s not cleaned regularly.

β€’ Clean the lint filter before or after each load.
β€’ Make sure the outdoor vent flap opens when the dryer is running.
β€’ Have a qualified service person clean the inside of the dryer cabinet and exhaust duct once a year.

πŸ”₯πŸš’ It’s Home Fire Sprinkler Week! πŸš’πŸ”₯

Did you know that home fire sprinklers can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by about 90%? These systems respond quickly, often controlling or extinguishing a fire before firefighters even arrive β€” giving families valuable time to escape safely.

Modern home fire sprinklers are:
βœ… Fast-acting
βœ… Reliable
βœ… Designed to protect lives and property
βœ… Activated individually β€” not all at once

Fire can spread in less than 2 minutes. A home fire sprinkler system helps provide peace of mind when every second counts.

This week, help us spread awareness about the importance of residential fire sprinklers and fire-safe homes. Together, we can save lives.

Modern home fires burn faster and become deadly in minutes. In one- and two-family homes, the rate of death in reported fires was 44% higher in 2024 than in 1980. Home fire sprinklers can help save lives by controlling a fire before it spreads. Learn more at HomeFireSprinkler.org.
