Over the past couple weeks, your Constable's Office has received numerous complaints regarding an older model tan Tahoe driving recklessly on County Roads in our Precinct putting other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This afternoon Deputy Constable Todd Moon was on patrol within the Bedias community and located the vehicle in question. Probable cause for a traffic stop was established and initiated. The operator did not possess a valid drivers license, the vehicle was uninsured, and the registration was expired. After a probable cause search, the driver was cited for numerous violations and the vehicle was towed.
Valid complaints received by our Office will ALWAYS be taken seriously and investigated to the best of our ability to ensure the safety and security of our community. Great work today Deputy Moon!

Your Constable's Offices' aggressive driving task force hit the roads again this morning and conducted 34 traffic stops. We issued a total of 13 citations. We focused our efforts on the stretch of State Highway 90 from Navasota to Anderson. Offenses observed varied from speeding, passing in a no passing zone, passing when unsafe, impeding traffic, and fail to yield right of way. We will continue these operations in an effort to increase law enforcement presence and hopefully reduce fatal traffic accidents.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Navasota Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety for their assistance and joint efforts today. Also, huge shout out to our dispatchers who did an outstanding job keeping up with us. Our systems were down so all returns had to be provided to us and the dispatchers at the Grimes County Sheriff's Office did a fantastic job! Until next time Grimes County, please drive safely!!!

Your Constable's Offices' successfully completed another deployment of our Aggressive Driving Task Force this morning. We specifically targeted the stretch of State Highway 90 from Anderson to Singleton.
There were a total of 41 traffic stops conducted and 14 citations issued for various offenses including passing when unsafe, passing in a no passing zone, speeding, impeding traffic, and expired registration along with others. There was also one probable cause search completed where drug paraphernalia was located and confiscated.
One misconception we continually see is passing when unsafe and some driver's don't seem to understood the law regarding such. Texas law requires you to BEGIN passing in a designated passing zone and COMPLETE the pass in the same passing zone without traveling above the posted speed limit. If you can't accomplish both, you shouldn't be passing!
We would also like to thank the Grimes County Sheriff's Office Deputies that joined us in our efforts this morning! Have a blessed day folks and please drive safely!!

This is an excellent resource guide with some tips to prepare for the incoming Winter storm. Please stay off the roadways unless absolutely necessary. If this storm is anything like what we experienced in 2021, our roadways will be very dangerous. Stay safe folks!!!

I've been in recent discussions with Constable Blake Jarvis and Constable Gary Bender regarding an aggressive driving task force to be established by the Constable's Offices in Grimes County. The primary focus of this task force is to target aggressive driving violations in areas where traffic fatalities are the highest. I'm happy to announce we have created this said task force amongst our Offices. The goal of these operations will be to target traffic violations including but not limited to; speeding, passing when unsafe, passing in no passing zones, following too closely ect... We hope to have an impact on driving habits in order to limit traffic accidents and fatalities. We will continue to monitor traffic accidents and citizen complaints to specifically target certain areas throughout Grimes County.

Our first deployment was this afternoon and the focal point of this operation was the stretch of State Highway 249 in Grimes County. In just over 2 hours (we were delayed a bit by weather) Officers with the Constable's Offices conducted 22 traffic stops and issued 23 citations for various offenses.

I'd like to thank Constable Jarvis and Constable Bender for their cooperation with establishing these target specific traffic enforcement operations. We operate as a team on all levels and will continue to address the numerous citizen complaints we receive regarding dangerous traffic issues. Thank you Deputy Constable Todd Moon and Deputy Constable Zack Pavlock for your efforts today.

Well folks we are excited to reveal our new patch design for the Constable's Office in Precinct 1!! Deputy Todd Moon and I worked diligently to design a patch for our Agency that was unique and incorporated some Grimes County history, specifically for our area! We are excited to reveal what we've come up with.

As you can see, we were able to incorporate the Sarah Dodson Texas Flag design into the bottom rocker of our patch. Mrs. Dodson is buried in the Bethel Cemetery in Bedias. Below is a excerpt from Wikipedia regarding the flags design along with some history behind it.

The Dodson tri-color flag, more commonly the Dodson flag, or Dodson's flag, is a flag originally created by Mrs. Sarah Dodson for Captain Andrew Robinson's Harrisburg Company (of Texas Volunteers) in the Texas Revolution, where her husband, Archelaus Dodson, was enlisted. Constructed in 1835, the Dodson flag served as a symbol of the company in the midst of the revolution, having been flown on their march from the former, Harrisburg, Texas, to Gonzales, and later, possibly with a different company, over Cibolo Creek. Assuming command soon after, Stephen F. Austin repurposed the flag, later flying in San Antonio for the December portion of the Siege of San Antonio de Béxar (Siege of San Antonio). In 1836, the Dodson flag, among two others, flew over the Alamo Mission for the Battle of the Alamo. Furthermore, in 1836, Dodson's flag was allegedly commissioned over the meeting hall at Washington-on-the-Brazos, where the Convention of 1836 met, later leading to the creation of the Texas Declaration of Independence. If this theory is true, it may have been the flag proposed by politician, Lorenzo de Zavala, for the Texas national flag.

Another variation of the Dodson flag (with improper proportions); described by Charles E. Gilbert in A Concise History of Early Texas: As told by its 30 historic flags.
Following Mrs. Dodson's death in 1848 as a result of pneumonia, the flag became a key symbol of the Texas Revolution. Her grave, left unmarked, gave way to a cemetery until 1935 when it was eventually commemorated with a pink tombstone (made of granite) by her descendants in response to a centennial via the Bedias, Texas community.

The Dodson tri-color flag may have also flown at the Battle of Concepción: the opening engagement of the Siege (and Battle) of San Antonio de Béxar in modern-day San Antonio, Texas.

We were sure sad to hear the news about Mr. Love's passing yesterday. I had the pleasure of working alongside Mr. Love for 15 years at the Sheriff's Office. I always enjoyed our conversations and the laughs we shared. He was an amazing man who always had a smile on his face no matter the circumstances. Mr. Love had a very meaningful impact on my life and the lives of those he worked with. May you rest in peace my friend 🙏
