We had another amazing meeting Monday night! Collectively there’s so many great ideas and we are very excited about the future of Iola PTO.

For teacher appreciation week we provided sandwich trays and cookies to all of our PreK thru 5th grade teachers. We appreciate our teachers and school staff immensely and encourage you and your student(s) to shower them with kindness this week.

👟Our shoe drive is kicking off BIG time! Humanity House, Iola Register, Iola USD 257 board office, and all three elementary schools are cutdrop locations. DejaNu Consignment has also agreed to donate acceptable shoes past their contract time period. Iola Register is also donating monetarily for PTO to purchase more shoes in the sizes needed.

School supply bundles will be offered again this year directly through the EPI website. Bundles will be shipped to the school and ready for your students on the first day of school. We believe we have worked out some of the kinks of the first year and are very excited to offer this again this year. Flyers should be coming home soon and we’ll be doing a social media push too. As a heads up the price of school supplies has gone up across the board. When the quotes came in the exact products were matched to Walmart’s prices and EPI was cheaper so we continued on with them.

Along with the supply bundles we will be doing a supply drive later this summer to help the school fill some gaps as supplies get used. More information on drop locations to follow.

We will be at enrollment in August to share about PTO. We have some plans and ideas for our booth such as grab and go Iola Elementary shirts and sign up sheets. We also decided to plan a welcome basket with Iola items for our new to the district teachers. A committee has been formed to head these endeavors.

We formed a committee to begin the fundraising for our carnival next spring. They are beginning to send requests for the bigger prizes. In the fall we will form more of the committees needed to pull this off. We hope you’ll join us.

In August we will approach the idea of having babysitters at PTO meetings. Currently there’s not a need. We’d love your feedback.

Paige Olson has stepped across to Social Media Head. She will be giving PTO a presence across social media platforms and taking over the PTO page announcements in the next month.

ACMAT shared they are doing their back to school night on August 4 at 5:30-8pm. PTO has requested a booth again this year.

Iola PTO has joined the swimming trend and have paid for the first 100 6-18 year olds to enter the Iola pool for free on Aug. 5. It’s the last Friday the pool is open and we’d like to give Iola students a back to school gift.

Our next PTO meeting will be July 18 at 6pm. Location to be announced.

The dinosaurs are coming!! Please join us for SAFE BASE and Iola USD 257 Title 1's Jurassic Blue Plate Special from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Jefferson Elementary on Thursday, May 5!! This free event is for any child, PreK-6th grade living in the USD 257-Iola area. Students must have a parent or guardian accompany them. We hope to see you there!! 🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖

In an effort to help the school and families in every way we can we are having a shoe drive for gym shoes. At the new school students will be required to have shoes just for gym, so we don’t ruin the new floor. Please send new or gently used shoes without rocks in the soles to your child’s school or drop at the board office.
Gates will also have a drop location for employees.
Other businesses will be added as they join.
