History
The Ione Fire Department was formed in 1881 after a series of fires in the downtown business district that destroyed entire city blocks. The department consisted of hand pumps, hose carts and a bucket brigade. The department became the City of Ione Fire Department in 1952 and has had an extremely proud and successful history of dedication and service to the community since 1881. Number of

The City of Ione Fire Fighters Association would like to Thank the Ione Boy scout troop 477 for stopping by fire station 2 tonight for a tour and to drop off this month's desert for the firefighters.

It was an incredible Brownies and Rootbeer floats night after our departments weekly training drill and we can't say thanks enough.

We love our community Thank you very much.

With the quickly approaching Fire Season we need to be ready....PLEASE CUT AND REMOVE all the weeds and fire hazard from your property by the first week of June....

Fire fighters from the City of Ione have been preparing for the upcoming 2026 Wildland fire season over the past month.

Tonight's weekly Department Training , 20 firefighters and 6 fire engines, each engine crew was required to performed mobile fire attack of 1/4 mile and then transitioned into a progressive hose lay operation of 400 ft up hill.

Our personnel take pride in the high standards and hard work and are proud to be a great cooperator with CALFIRE and OES during the wildland fire season to protect our community and be a part of the state wide Master Mutual aid system.

We has a great time this weekend at the Grand opening and Ribbon cutting for the new Amphitheater at Howard Park.

The fire department set up a Kids corner, where they were able to dress in firefighter gear, go through an obstacle course and then connect fire hose and spray a simulated fire .

We had over 200 kids participating

We would like to Thank the Ione Girlscouts troop # 954 for stopping by fire station 2 this evening and dropping off dessert for our Association meeting tonight.
The girls were able to tour the station and use some of the fire fighting tools.

This is a great program that the Ione VFW auxiliary has put together each month for our personnel and we can't thank everyone enough we have an amazing Community
