Reminder: Burn restrictions are still in effect across the area. Even though we’ve received some recent moisture, we’re not out of the woods yet—conditions can dry out quickly, and wildfire risk remains.
On September 4th, the U.S. Forest Service will be moving to Stage 1 restrictions, which allow campfires only in approved, designated campgrounds. Find restriction explanations here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/colville/fire/fire-restrictions

⚠ OUTAGE ALERT ⚠

A PUD crew is responding to a large outage affecting the Cusick substation. At this time more than 850 customers are affected in the central part of the county.

The cause is currently unknown, and there’s no estimated time of restoration.

We will post updates as we receive new information.

🏈🪓 SELPORT FOOTBALL IS BACK! 🪓🏈
🏈HOME GAME AT NORTHPORT🏈

Tomorrow, Friday, September 4, the Selport Lumberjacks take the field for their first home game of the 2026 season! The Lumberjacks will face the Republic Tigers at Northport, with kickoff at 7:00 PM.

The Selport Lumberjacks bring together student-athletes from Selkirk and Northport, a partnership that has allowed both of our small schools to continue offering football despite lower participation numbers in recent years.

This year, the Lumberjack ranks have grown! A strong turnout of players in grades 8–12 has come together to form a competitive 8-man football team, and we can’t wait to see what this group can do on the field.

Under the leadership of Coach Jeremy Link, the team has made an extra effort to practice together more often this year. That additional time together should help players from both schools build connections and take the field as one cohesive Selport team. 💪

🚧 And don’t forget to dress for the occasion! Northport is hosting a Construction Dress-Up Night, so break out the hard hats, safety vests, work boots, flannel, or other construction-inspired gear and join in the fun! 👷🔨
