🚜 Gradall work in Ionia Township and on Nickleplate Road between Cooper and Jefferson Roads
⚠️ Single-lane traffic in the area – expect delays and a little extra patience!

🛣️ Gravel Road maintenance in the southwest quadrant of the county

🧹 Approach sweeping in the southwest quadrant – because roads deserve a good spring cleaning too!

🌳 Tree work in Otisco Township

🔨 Crossroad replacement on Sunfield Highway between Tupper Lake Road and Eaton Highway

🌿 Brush mowing in Danby Township – giving the roadsides a fresh haircut!

🚦 As always, if you see flashing lights, orange signs, or big yellow equipment, please slow down and give our crews plenty of room to work safely.

💔 Our hearts are with the families, friends, and coworkers of the two MDOT workers who tragically lost their lives in a work zone yesterday.

Please take a moment to slow down and stay alert when traveling through work zones. Orange signs, barrels, cones, and flashing lights are there to protect both drivers and the crews working just feet from traffic every day. 🚧

Every road worker deserves to make it home safely to their family at the end of the day. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our crews and fellow drivers safe. 🙏

UPDATE - Two Michigan Department of Transportation workers have died after being hit by an SUV on northbound US-127 on Tuesday, according to the Michigan State Employees Association. Latest details at link in comments ⬇️

⚠️ Crews are currently out across Ionia County cleaning up multiple downed trees and roadway hazards from the storms. Please use caution if traveling and expect to see crews working in various locations throughout the county. 🌳🚧

☀️ Happy Tuesday, Ionia County! It’s another busy one out there and the orange cones are putting in overtime today! 👷‍♂️🚧😎

🛣️ Fresh blacktop alert!
Paving operations continue on Zahm Rd between the Belding city limits and Krupp Rd, with paving expected to wrap up today!
⚠️ Single-lane closure in place — expect delays, wave at the paver crew, and enjoy that fresh pavement smell 😅

💧 Prep for dust control is underway in Portland and Danby Townships.

🚜 Berm removal crews are rolling in Ionia Township on:
• Jefferson Rd between Hubble Rd and Parmeter Rd
• Nickle Plate Rd between Jefferson Rd and Stage Rd
• Hubble Rd between M-66 and Jefferson Rd

⚠️ Expect single-lane traffic and slow moving equipment in these areas.

🚧 Gradall crews are also hard at work in Ionia Township.

🕳️ Patching crews will be out on I-96 today filling potholes before they become suspension testing stations 😬

🪧 Sign replacement crews are working countywide as well.

🔹 Prep for dust control in Portland Township
🌳 Tree work in various locations countywide

🚧 Berm removal operations taking place:
• Bellamy Rd between Dildine Rd and Bradford Rd (Easton Township)
• Parmeter Rd between M-66 and Dick Rd
• Parmeter Rd between M-66 and Jefferson Rd (Ionia Township)

⚠️ These roads will be closed to thru traffic while work is being completed. Please follow posted detours and do not drive around barricades.

🚜 Gradall work:
• Somers Rd south of Riverside Dr (Ionia Township)
• Northwest quadrant of the county

🛣️ Paving operations on Zahm Rd between Krupp Rd and the Belding city limits.
🚦 Single-lane traffic in place — expect delays.

🏗️ Crushing and shaping is scheduled to begin today on the Nash Hwy project. This important work will improve the roadway surface, drainage, and overall ride quality before paving operations continue.

🚨 Upcoming Road Work Alert 🚨
Paving work is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, on Kelsey Hwy between Grand River Avenue and Peck Lake Road.
⚠️ Traffic will be limited to one lane during paving operations — please expect delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
In addition, crews will be overlaying the Welch Rd Bridge on Welch Road between Prairie Creek Road and Stone Road.
🚫 Welch Rd will be closed to thru traffic while this work takes place.
👷‍♂️ Please follow posted detours, slow down in work zones, and give crews room to work. We appreciate your patience as these improvements are completed — the end result will be worth it! 🚜🛣️
