With it being Iowa City Farmers Market season, our Love Food, Fight Waste program is celebrating local food and will be highlighting market vendors throughout this season. This week, we are highlighting vendors that offer fresh eggs, including 6 Acre Farms LLC, Echollective Farm, Marion Striegel, and Silver Maple Farm, LLC .

Fresh eggs offer a high-quality protein and are packed with vitamins such as B12, A, and folate. These vendors offer a variety of local poultry eggs that are great for cooking and baking.

Support local food by shopping at the Iowa City Farmers Market every Saturday until October 31st, 2026, located at the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp! More info: https://www.icgov.org/.../parks-and.../farmers-market Table to Table

Service area residents can safely recycle batteries at our Community Battery Drop-off Locations! Visit www.icgov.org/battery for a list of drop-off locations!

This program is available to service area residents living in Johnson County and within city limits of Kalona and Riverside.

Batteries should not be placed in the regular garbage or recycling. Improper disposal of batteries in the regular garbage or recycling is a leading cause of landfill and recycling facility fires.

Participants will receive six helpful emails from Iowa City’s Recycling Coordinator that provide tips, motivation, and resources to support your plastic-free journey. Emails will be sent from late June through early August. More info: www.icgov.org/reduce

With it being Iowa City Farmers Market season, our Love Food, Fight Waste program is celebrating local food and will be highlighting market vendors throughout this season starting with GG’s Pasta!

They provide fresh pasta for local farmers markets, nine restaurants, and the three New Pioneer Co-ops. They produce in small batches to avoid food waste and their products last about two to three weeks in the fridge. All of GG’s Pasta products are vegan, egg-free, dairy-free, and pasta-tively amazing.
