Iowa City Bike Library The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bike project located at 1222 S. Gilbert Court, in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bicycle project located at 1222 S. We repair donated bikes and check them out to the public. Bikes are priced with a deposit (ranging from $50-$300). If a bike is returned in good condition within the six-month checkout period, the deposit will be returned to the user, minus a $50 processing fee and damage to the bicycle, if any. Alternatively, patrons can choose to keep their bikes and forfeit their deposit.

It's Summer Solstice weekend 🌞 More daylight = more time to bike. For this week's Gatos ride, the route is 17 miles which is longer than usual, heading up to Muddy Creek in Coralville. Bring your water! (+ helmet + lights)

From the Youth Garage: these six United Action For Youth teens absolutely KILLED IT! in the “Crank & Conquer” intro to bikepacking series. After several months of learning basic bike maintenance and training rides, the sequence culminated in an overnight bikepack to Kent Park. Teens took home their bikes (with rack and panniers to boot!) after a successful trip home that included a thunderstorm delay in a local grocery store and some rainy riding. These kids are built different! Big S/O to Sadie at UAY for dreaming up this program and making it happen with Dustin, our Youth Bike Coordinator, and volunteers.

The clouds were epic for last Friday night's ride. The forecast looks clear for tomorrow night and maybe we'll get lucky again with an amazing sky. John M is leading and Matt H is sweeping. Thank you!! Come ride Friday night then come back. Bike N Beats party on Saturday 🎉

The shop will close at its normal hours on Friday which means it won't be available for quick-fixes pre-ride. Just a heads up!

All 👀 eyeballs on Ben! He just tuned-up his 100th bike since starting at the shop in February 11th. We’re so grateful to have him on our team. He’s a whizz of a mechanic, constantly is keeping moral up, and leads bike librarians on Salvage Night Wednesdays 6-8. Thanks for pitching in big time during this busy time of year Ben in all the rest of operations!
