The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bicycle project located at 1222 S. We repair donated bikes and check them out to the public. Bikes are priced with a deposit (ranging from $50-$300). Bike-in Beats: The Campaign Finale Edition

Over the last two years the Bike Library has gone through a dramatic transformation. In 2024 we set out to raise $1 Million to advance vital youth programming, go solar, create a community greenspace and bike skills loop, and pay off our mortgage.

Today, we’re thrilled to invite you to help celebrate our collective success at Bike-in Beats: Saturday, June 13th from Noon & INTO THE NIGHT.

We’re shutting down the street for this family friendly event. There will be bands, food trucks, a NA bar, beer truck, ice cream, and the IC Flea Market vendors will be set up all day. See you there!

From the Youth Garage: spring means rodeos and pop-ups! These kids took advantage of an awesome ‘Pedal Power’ event put on by at Terry Trueblood. Helmet decorating and a mini group ride around the pond were both big hits!

Another week, another Friday night Gatos ride. Meet ya at the BL at 6pm. If you wanted a break from last week's hills, this will be a flatter 10 mile cruise out to Saddlebrook Marsh. Maybe bring a snack to share, I hear there might be a mid-ride picnic stop.

“There is nothing like the joy that you get from getting on your bike and being in control.”

That’s how Rob describes the feeling of riding a bike—and why getting more kids on bicycles matters so much.

Last spring, Rob stopped by the Iowa City Bike Library to see firsthand what this place is all about. The concept is simple:

Donate bikes ➡️ use them as teaching tools and fix them up ➡️ get them back out into the community.

But what happens here is bigger than bikes. It’s confidence. Freedom. Transportation. Community. Skills that last a lifetime.

In partnering with RAGBRAI this year, we will educate folks across Iowa on what a community bike shop is—and why every single town across Iowa should have one.
