Iowa City Bike Library The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bike project located at 1222 S. Gilbert Court, in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bicycle project located at 1222 S. We repair donated bikes and check them out to the public. Bikes are priced with a deposit (ranging from $50-$300). If a bike is returned in good condition within the six-month checkout period, the deposit will be returned to the user, minus a $50 processing fee and damage to the bicycle, if any. Alternatively, patrons can choose to keep their bikes and forfeit their deposit.

Today we say goodbye (sort of, at least in an “official staff” capacity) to our Summer Youth Programs Assistant, Josie. She helped take summer bike camps up another level with her way of building relationships, running skills drills, and even designing her own 2-day capstone camp at the end of the season. Josie, you are an absolute joy and we are so grateful to have had you on staff! The kids LOVE you! Please keep spending time at the shop, this doesn’t have to be the end!

From the Youth Garage: that’s a WRAP on summer programs! Our Summer Youth Programs Assistant, Josie, designed a killer 2-day scavenger hunt event, “Battle of the Bikes”, for kids who’d completed a week-long camp earlier this summer and wanted more. They competed in teams to complete tune-ups, map safe routes, and ride to clues hidden around town using the trail system.
