Men's Anti-Violence Council Creating a safer community for everyone. It provides resources, training, and workshops with the goal of creating a safer community for everyone.

As a part of the Women's Resource and Action Center, MAC is dedicated to engaging men in violence prevention through education and activism regarding bystander behavior and healthy masculinity. The Men's Anti-Violence Council is a program created by the Women's Resource and Action Center as a way to provide volunteer opportunities for men from the University of Iowa campus and community to become

involved in bystander prevention efforts. Step forward, speak out, never remain silent about violence. Since it's creation four years ago, MAC has helped reach nearly 11,000 on and off campus through public awareness campaigns, workshops, and educational seminars.

The duties of this position are to research, design, implement, coordinate and assess primary gender and sexual violence (GSV) prevention and gender equity programming and initiatives informed by current research, intersectional feminist critical analysis, expert consensus, promising practices in the field, and aligned with the Center’s mission, vision and values. Additional programming responsibilities include one or more of the following: men and masculinities programming, graduate and professional student education, programming tailored to the needs of communities of color, people with disabilities, and/or LGBTQ+ communities. This position is open to applicants of all genders; people of color, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ folx, and individuals with one or more of these and/or other marginalized identities are encouraged to apply.

The Man Box teaches men and boys to not accept rejection from others, especially not from women. We are creating a culture of that teaches respect for women beyond romantic interest and that no— absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt — means no.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride month! Pride is a way to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising in Manhattan. These riots were a tipping point against police brutality against LGBTQ+ individuals and a step towards liberation. We honor the folks who continue fighting for the liberation of all of our LGBTQ+ family.
