Neighborhood Centers

Neighborhood Centers A Safe Space This balance also allows us to facilitate relationships between families and offers the necessary support before a crisis erupts.

Our family-centered and community-based approach provides a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life for families in the neighborhoods we serve. By offering a consistent and stable neighborhood presence, we are able to provide a balanced mixture of programs and activities that build community, teach new skills and provide advocacy and support for families. Each program or service crea

Today is Great Give Day.

Your gift to Neighborhood Centers helps keep safe spaces, trusted relationships, and meaningful programs available for children, families, and neighbors across our community.

Every gift helps us keep showing up.

Thank you for being part of this work.

At our gala, we had the honor of hearing from local leader Bronis Perteit, who shared how Neighborhood Centers impacted her youth as a teen newcomer to our community and how those connections helped shape her future.

Weeks later, her story stays with us.

Tomorrow is Johnson County Great Give Day, and Bronis’ words are a reminder of why this work matters. Your support helps keep safe spaces, trusted relationships, and meaningful programs available for children, families, and neighbors across our community.

Early giving is open now. Every gift helps.

Another look back at the gala.
What a beautiful night.
You could really feel the love and care for this community in that room.
Thank you.

Our Family Support team helped connect families to the Scheels Lights and Ladders event earlier this month.

Kids got to climb into fire trucks, meet officers, and see it all up close. Just as important, families got to be out together, try something new, and feel part of what’s happening in the community.

Summer is almost here… we can’t believe it.

Our Youth Empowered to Serve (YES) Program is back, and applications close this Friday, May 1.

YES is a paid opportunity for youth ages 14–18 to build real-world skills, gain work experience, and learn alongside mentors throughout the summer.

If you know a young person who should be part of this, we’d love for you to share this with them.

Apply at ncjc.org/yes

This program is once again made possible with support from Johnson County Social Services, Greenstate Foundation, and Goodwill of the Heartland.

Still thinking about Saturday’s gala.

It was a meaningful night bringing together neighbors, our team, board, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate and support the children, youth, families, and neighbors we serve every day.

It meant a lot to see so many people show up, connect, and be part of it. We’re grateful to everyone who came out.

We’ll be sharing more from the night in the coming days.

Can you believe this Saturday is our 3rd Spring Gala?

We’re really grateful for everyone who has shown up and supported this event over the years. It’s been special to share that experience with our neighbors.

If you missed it, or just need a reminder, here are a few highlights from last year.

If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, there’s still time: ncjc.org/gala26

Thank you to Eric and Z102.9 for the conversation and the opportunity to share more about Neighborhood Centers.

We talked about who we serve, why neighborhood-based spaces matter, and what it looks like to build real connection and support for children and families.

We appreciate the chance to talk about this work!

We’re grateful for Diane, one of our dedicated volunteers.

After learning we needed cot sheets for our Early Childhood program, she organized a St. Patrick’s Day Eve sewing night and brought together five of her coworkers from Trader Joe's- Coralville.

Together, they made 10 cot sheets for our classrooms.

Diane also leads sewing classes for our team and parents and continues to find ways to bring people together.

We’re so thankful to Diane, her Trader Joe’s team, and everyone who contributed. Your time and care make a real difference for our kids and families.
