Shelter House is a non-profit organization that provides emergency and permanent supportive housing for individuals & families experiencing homelessness.

As temperatures increase significantly this weekend, Shelter House urgently needs donations of bottled water. Help us keep some of our most vulnerable community members safe from dehydration, heat stroke, and other heat-related illness by ensuring access to clean drinking water.

You may drop any donations off at our Emergency Shelter at 429 Southgate Avenue in Iowa City. And thank you, thank you, thank you.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity of this community. We set a goal of $30,000 for our Beat the Heat summer campaign, and you helped us raise MORE THAN $55,000.

That $55,000 provides lifesaving services during some of the most dangerous months of the year. Thank you!

Summer can be taxing on anyone, but some people are at increased risk of suffering adverse effects from extreme heat. These groups include individuals experiencing homelessness, children, adults aged 65+, pregnant individuals, and those with chronic illness.
