We will have bingo led by Bitchin’ Events, SOME AMAZING BINGO PRIZES!, and food/drink from Big Grove will be available for purchase. Big Grove is preparing a brand new b**r, especially for the event!

To celebrate our 47th birthday this September, we are counting down 47 Reasons Why Our Work Matters.

Here is today's reason why: according to the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, between October 2021 and September 2024, there were 88 deaths in the state of Iowa because of Domestic Violence.

Women and children made up a majority of victims. The most common type of person committing domestic violence homicide was a current or former partner or spouse.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is proposing changes to its Housing Discrimination Complaint Form that could make it harder for victims and survivors of abuse to access the complaint process.

HUD’s proposed changes to Form 903 raise serious concerns for survivors with limited English proficiency and could create barriers to filing a complaint. Survivors shouldn't have to overcome additional barriers to report housing discrimination or seek safety.

NNEDV has signed on to two comments opposing these changes, led by the National Fair Housing Alliance and the National Housing Law Project.

Access to safe, stable housing is critical to survivors’ ability to escape abuse and rebuild their lives. When their rights are violated, victims and survivors should have a clear, accessible, and confidential pathway to hold housing providers accountable.
