Many LGBTQ+ survivors, and in particular LGBTQ+ survivors of color are disproportionately impacted, and experience increased barriers to safety when seeking support from police, hospitals, or shelters.
Sexual orientation ranks as the third highest motivator for hate crime incidents.
As many as 85% of victim advocates reported having worked with an LGBTQ+ survivor who was denied services because of their s*xual orientation or gender identity.
47% of transgender people have been s*xually assaulted at some point in their lives. these rates are even higher for trans people of color and those who have done s*x work, been homeless, or have (or had) a disability.
73% of LGBTQ college students experience s*xual harassment or abuse.
44% of le***an women experience r**e, physical violence, or stalking by current or former intimate partner.
4 in 5 bis*xual women experienced s*xual violence in their life. Nearly half (46%) of bis*xual women are r**ed in their lifetime.
40% of gay men and 47% of bis*xual men experience s*xual assault in their lifetimes.
