International Day of Peace Walking Meditation September 21

Wars. Climate disaster. Political upheaval. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all of the suffering in the world.

Vietnamese Buddhist teacher, author, and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh said that without peace in ourselves, there cannot be peace in the world.

Join PEACE Iowa and Winding Path Sangha Saturday, September 21, at Hickory Hill Park for Walking Meditation–a practice of walking slowly, mindfully, and silently–to water the seeds of peace in our hearts. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background, beliefs, or experience with meditation.

We’ll begin gathering at 12:30 p.m. at the East Bloomington Street Shelter of Hickory Hill Park, and begin promptly at 1 p.m. with a welcome and instructions on walking meditation.

After the walking meditation, you’re welcome to join us for some social time and enjoy tea and cookies. Please bring a mug or cup to help us cut down on disposables.
