Our Community 🚨

Our Emergency Management Agency, along with our Dive Team, Bomb Squad, and HazMat Team, had a fantastic yesterday out at the Heroes Event at Dunn Brothers Coffee in Coralville.

It was a great opportunity to connect with community members, answer questions, showcase equipment, and spend time with the people we proudly serve. Events like this strengthen partnerships, build trust, and highlight the dedication of every responder who shows up day after day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, or brought their kids to explore the gear. Your support means everything.

Thunderstorms are possible today, especially this afternoon and evening along and ahead of a cold front. Severe storms may occur, primarily in Illinois with damaging wind, quarter size hail the main threats. In addition, an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out across northern IL.

Showers and storms are likely in the morning with severe storms not expected. Morning precipitation could impact severe potential later in the day by limiting energy needed for storms. Storm chances begin to increase during the afternoon and continuing into the evening. There is a risk for isolated severe storms during this period across the entire area. Lightning and damaging winds are the main threat with hail up to 1 inch in diameter a secondary threat.

Behind this storm system, slightly below normal temperatures will continue through the remainder of the week. Scattered showers and storms are possible again late Thursday night into Friday.

Thunderstorms are likely Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night ahead of a passing cold front. Strong to severe storms are possible with damaging winds the primary threat. Stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days.

create peak heat indices in the upper 90s to lower 100s through
the early evening.

English River at Kalona affecting Johnson and Washington Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...English River at Kalona. * WHEN...From late tonight to Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, water begins approaching several county roads. Agricultural land near the river is flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM CDT Friday the stage was 10.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 16.8 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage Monday morning. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
