The Iowa City Public Library has served the people of Iowa City and surrounding communities for more than a century. Located at the intersection of College and Linn Streets on the downtown pedestrian mall, ICPL serves a population of 63,000 residents of Iowa City, and through contract, residents of unincorporated Johnson County, University Heights, Lone Tree, and Hills. The Library is governed by

a semi-autonomous nine member Board of Trustees empowered by state law and city ordinance (Title 11) to set policy, determine goals and objectives, control monies appropriated or given to the Library, and to employ staff. The Library is a city department, Board members are appointed by and principal operating funds approved by the City Council.

On-street parking near the Iowa City Public Library will be significantly affected by road closures for the Iowa City Pride Festival and Parade on Saturday, June 20. https://ow.ly/Y8ku50ZeHoI

Temporary "No Parking" restrictions begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19 for Linn Street from Washington Street to College Street, directly in front of the Iowa City Public Library. Additional road closures and parking restrictions take effect at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, including Washington Street from Gilbert Street to Clinton Street and Linn Street from Iowa Avenue to College Street. On-street parking in these areas is not expected to reopen until late evening on June 20. For more specific details on road closures and parking restrictions, visit the City of Iowa City's website at icgov.org.

The Library will remain open during its regular hours on Saturday. Patrons are encouraged to plan ahead and park at City parking ramps at Capitol Street, Chauncey Swan, and Dubuque Street. Patrons who only wish to return materials are encouraged to use one of ICPL's remote book return locations at First Avenue Hy-Vee Pharmacy drive-thru or the UIowa Community Credit Union drive-thru on Mormon Trek Blvd (far-right lane).
