🐾🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE: HELP US BRING THIS DOG TO SAFETY 🚨🐾

Despite our continued efforts, a black-and-tan male German Shepherd remains at large in the Archers Lane area. Lexington County Animal Services has been actively working to safely capture him and will be making additional capture attempts in the coming days.

We need your help to give this dog the best chance at a successful and safe rescue. ❤️

📍 Please do NOT feed the dog anywhere except at the designated feeding station located at Upper Pine Grove Cemetery on Archers Lane. Keeping food available at one consistent location helps our trapper establish a reliable feeding pattern, monitor his movements, and significantly improve the chances of a safe capture.

⚠️ For the safety of both the dog and our staff, please do not approach the dog, attempt to capture him yourself, or tamper with any traps that may be placed in the area.

Every day this dog remains on the run, he faces potential dangers from traffic, weather, and other hazards. With the community’s cooperation and patience, we can work together to bring him to safety and get him the care he needs.

Thank you to everyone who has reported sightings and supported these efforts. Please continue sharing updates through the appropriate channels and help us spread the word to residents in the Archers Lane area. Together, we can give this dog the best chance at a safe outcome. 🐕:::

The Irmo Police Department arrested Joseph Seth Braxton at a residence in New Friarsgate on May 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Braxton has been charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Drug Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Upon executing a search warrant of the residence, the search yielded:

MISSING:

16 Year Old, Xavier Mikola Lynch

LAST SEEN: Xavier has been missing from the New Friarsgate area since the morning of Monday, May 4. He has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism, likes to hide in wooded areas, and was last seen on surveillance video at the Dollar General on Chapin Rd. on May 5 wearing a light colored hoodie, dark pants and white tennis shoes.

We are proud to be a part of the “aRe yoU OK?” (R U OK) Initiative, a collaborative effort between The Haven SC, the West Columbia Police Department, the Lexington Police Department and the Irmo Police Department.

The initiatiave seeks to take a proactive approach to ensuring officers feel supported both on and off duty. As part of this initiative, the department has implemented “R U OK” window clings in every patrol vehicle, serving as a simple but powerful reminder that checking in on one another matters.

Chief Bobby Dale, alongside regional law enforcement leaders, recently participated in a series of video messages designed to spark conversation and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in policing.

“This initiative is about creating a culture where it is not only acceptable, but encouraged, to ask for help,” said Chief Dale. “Our officers face unique challenges every day, and it is our responsibility as leaders to ensure they know they are not facing those challenges alone.”

The “aRe yoU OK?” campaign emphasizes connection, awareness, and early intervention. By normalizing conversations around mental health and equipping officers with visible reminders and resources, the Irmo PD aims to foster an environment where wellness is a priority.

This effort reflects a broader commitment among Midlands law enforcement leaders to prioritize officer wellness, strengthen peer support, and lead by example. Community members are encouraged to follow the Irmo Police Department on Facebook to learn more about the initiative.

In moments like these, we’re reminded that every officer is backed by loved ones who share in the weight of this profession. We are keeping those families in our thoughts as they stand beside their officers during this difficult time.

Update 5:35 PM: Both officers have been released from the hospital.

At 12:29 p.m., Central Business District officers responded to a reported assault on North Main Street near 233 N. Main St.

During the incident, One officer was shot, and another was injured. The officers were transported to the hospital for treatment. A suspect is in custody at this time.

This remains an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
