You've seen the signs, have you taken the survey? https://www.linkstolakemurray.com/outreach

WHY YOU SHOULD CLICK AND GIVE FEEDBACK: This is what many of you have been asking for. The process of road improvements, widenings, solving problem intersections, all starts here. We heard from a LOT of you about Rt6. You are being given an invitation to have your voice be heard about needs and priorities.

WHO IS RUNNING THIS THING?
This is a project run by the central midlands council of governments. This is one of the few methods Irmo can use to get roadway improvements. Irmo government is not directly responsible for the content, questions, or program - but endorses and supports this study.

SECRET AGENDA OR MISSION:
There isn't one. A public input process to understand resident's needs, issues, concerns, is a widely used practice as part of the "motion" of significant road improvements. To wit, as I see it, the goal of this survey isn't to tilt the scales to a specific outcome, but rather hear from a broad representative group about what should be done.

I'VE ALREADY TAKEN THE SURVEY:
They've added a very helpful MAP, where you can drop a pin to give feedback like "there is a safety hazard here", or "there is a barrier to biking/walking here", or "this is a destination I visit often".

If you have further questions or would like to provide feedback to the cog which is outside the box of this study, please contact Reginald Simmons [email protected]

I am so excited to share this, as it has been in the works for a long time. In reality, a lot of Irmo councils (but not all) have been wanting to do this since the amphitheater was built.

You wanted Irmo to have not just community events, but more bands too. I love this because it is a 3 week series, with different genres, but all fun!

Expect REAL food options, and I've got my fingers crossed for a beer vendor for yall.

WHY THIS IS A BIG DEAL: This is a bit of a reach for us as a Town of Irmo, with Bill Danielson - Mayor of The Town of Irmo having organized a very talented group to lead this program to run as clean as possible, and himself finding sponsors for the event.

My hope is that you attend 1, 2, or all 3 band nights. Please, bring a neighbor! Invite some folks from your irmo fb group you like. Use this as excuse to have fun while also building stronger bonds with your community.

⚡️Irmo, get ready! We're excited to announce our first-ever Spring Concert Series, "Irmo Town Limits," presented by State Farm!

Join us at the Prisma Health Amphitheater at Moore Park (7473 Church St.) for three fantastic Fridays:

The story of this family is heartbreaking - but the way the community responded to their need has been a beautiful reflection of our spirit.

"In 2023, the family lost their beloved husband and father to the evil of cancer...Now, just a little over a year later, their home has been destroyed by fire early this morning. EVERYTHING is gone."

The gofundme setup by a close family friend (https://gofund.me/682c2a1d) has beaten the goal twice, and made a sizable impact on their post-fire life, and efforts to rebuild their home.

We may troll, complain, and snipe on facebook, but when the chips are down, our true nature comes through. This is why I insist on pushing the message that YOU are a member of this community.

Your choices, actions, and effort like improving your home's appearance, cleaning the curb in front of your home, speeding less in neighborhoods, offers to help neighbors...they all impact our community. My hope is that we take this heartbreaking circumstance, and our community's response into careful consideration. No one is an island, and the choices we make may very well contribute or diminish that sense of community.

Again, I'm proud of our town, and I appreciate everyone who offered help, donated, or shared this story and how we can help!
