Joseph Addison Crowell House

Joseph Addison Crowell House Stunning Queen Anne Victorian constructed in 1891/92 by Dr. Joseph A. Crowell & his wife, Leonora. Packard in the spring of 1884.

The Dr. Joseph Addison Crowell Mansion was built by famed architect F.L. The Romanesque-style structure has a first floor of Amberg granite and was the first Iron Mountain house to be listed in the Michigan State Register of Historic sites in 1979. The hitching posts where the doctor and his patients left their horses flank the driveway and the carriage block marked 'Dr Crowell' used by ladies and

gentlemen when stepping out of their carriages remains in front of the home. The home features oak wainscoting and floors, five individually unique fireplaces and beveled leaded glass windows in the parlor, sitting room and dining room. The double front door leads into a vestibule and then into a reception room with a splendid oak bookcase over the fireplace. A two-story oak staircase is supported by two magnificent oak columns. Dr. Crowell is remembered as being one of the first two physicians and surgeons to practice in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Some of you may know what a "Yard Long" photograph is...they were popular in the late 19th and early 20th century and often depicted panoramic views.
I don't know how well this will show on this post, but here is a very rare "Jumbo" postcard of 1910's Iron Mountain, which is the postcard equivalent to a Yard-Long photograph

Custom baby gates done right. I love that they don't take away from the esthetic of the home.

Considering painting the library and ordered a few samples from the Sherwin-Williams Victorian color pallet. They arrived and looked awfully familiar. Walked outside and they're the exterior colors from previous owners! Great minds...
