Dickinson County Sheriff's Office Michigan Sheriff's, law enforcement of the people, by the people, for the people. We provide many services to the citizens of Dickinson County.

Some of the services provided are Patrol Services, Animal Control, Civil Process, ORV/Marine/Snowmobile Patrols, Prisoner Transports, Court House Security, and a 71 bed jail. We also oversee a 911 Advanced Dispatch Center.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce it's first ever Touch-A-Truck event!

This FREE, Family-focused event will be hosted right here in Kingsford.

Come get an up-close look at what our local businesses build, sell, and repair, and let your children get hands-on experience with the amazing machines they usually only see from a distance.

Mark your calendars for July 18th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Midway Rentals in Kingsford (in the old Mall). Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks, along with family-friendly games and giveaways. Proceeds from the event will help support the Sheriff's Office specialty units.

Public Safety Information – Pine Mountain Ski Jump Weekend
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office proudly welcomes residents and visitors to the annual event at the world-renowned Pine Mountain Ski Jump in Iron Mountain. This historic competition draws thousands to our community, and we are committed to ensuring a safe, organized, and enjoyable weekend for everyone.
Public safety is our top priority. Please review the following important information:

🚔 TRAFFIC, PARKING & SHUTTLE INFORMATION
⚠️ Pine Mountain Parking Lot Closure
• The main parking lot at Pine Mountain will be shut down once it reaches capacity.
• Once full, no additional vehicles will be allowed into the lot.
• Additionally this year we will be limiting parking on Bellagomba to one side of the road all the way to the City Limits.
• Attendees are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and utilize alternative parking options.
🚌 Alternative Parking & Shuttle Service – Saturday
• Shuttle service will operate on Saturday from Bay College to the Pine Mountain Ski Jump complex.
• Cost is $5 per person round trip.
• Parking will be available at Bay College for those using the shuttle service.
Using the shuttle will help reduce congestion, shorten delays, and improve overall safety entering and exiting the venue.

🍺 SAFE RIDES HOME – SATURDAY
• BOSS Snowplow will be offering FREE safe rides home on Saturday after the competition until 7:00 p.m.
• If you plan to consume alcohol, please take advantage of this service or designate a sober driver.
• There is zero tolerance for impaired driving — safety on our roadways is non-negotiable.

⏰ PARKING LOT GATHERINGS
• All parking lot gatherings and “tailgate” activities must conclude no later than 7:00 p.m.
• Deputies will be monitoring the area to ensure compliance.
• We ask everyone to be respectful of the community, neighboring properties, and fellow attendees.
• Attendees should remember that there is still pass through traffic on the road to the lodge so pedestrian traffic needs to be respectful of that area.

❄️ WEATHER & TERRAIN SAFETY
• Dress appropriately for winter weather conditions.
• Wear proper footwear, as snow and ice may create slippery conditions on hillsides and walkways.
• Use caution in elevated or steep viewing areas.

👨‍👩‍👧 FAMILY SAFETY
• Keep children within sight at all times.
• Establish a meeting point in case members of your group become separated.
• Report emergencies or suspicious activity immediately to on-site deputies or event staff.

🚑 EMERGENCY ACCESS
Emergency personnel will be stationed throughout the venue. Please:
• Keep emergency lanes clear.
• Follow directions from deputies, local law enforcement, fire personnel, and EMS.
• Exercise patience during peak entry and exit times.

The Pine Mountain Ski Jump is one of the premier winter sporting events in the Midwest and a source of pride for our entire community. By planning ahead, using the shuttle service, making responsible decisions, and respecting event guidelines, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable weekend for all.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting applications for the position of part time Road Patrol Deputy.

Candidates hired without MCOLES certification must meet eligibility requirements for sponsorship in an accredited academy chosen by the Sheriff’s Office for MCOLES Certification. Successful candidates will be offered employment based on the candidate’s merit and fitness. The next police academy is scheduled to start in May of 2026 at NMU.

The hiring process will begin in early 2026. Candidates must successfully pass the MCOLES Reading/Writing test and Physical Agility test. Employment is contingent upon successful background, including reference checks, and a medical/psych examination.

Hide and Seek From the Police was a huge success! For our first year of this event, we had 233 kids involved. We are preparing to contact the winners so that they can pick up their trophies and can get a photograph with Sheriff Rochon.
